Haven’t got as much done this weekend as I planned.
But got the tailplane on and engines started.
Exhausts on the engine cowling were a pain. Tricky to clean up and nearly lost 2 in the process. Only the fact we have laminate flooring prevented them from disappearing forever. Hasegawa provide the exact amount and no spares.

I’m going to have to admit defeat with this one I’m afraid. I just don’t think I’m going to make the end of the campaign.
The only time I get to work on it is weekends, and every weekend till Christmas has been filled for me with shopping trips, days out with friends etc.
So I’ll keep at when I can, but realistically I don’t see much being done on anything till the new year.
Definitely not. I’ve got this far and I’m determined to see it through to the end.

This is interesting. I’ve dry fitted the engines together and noticed they’re off centre a bit and turned to the portside. I would assume they’d be arranged vertically up and down, so is this correct?
The parts are keyed so they won’t fit together any other way.
None of the photos in my references show this clearly.

I’ve been looking around for the last few days and these engines are still bugging me. Surely the crank cases should be vertical and not turned to the left slightly?
I’ve played around with them and there’s no other way the parts fit together.
I only have online references and I wasn’t able to find any there that showed it clearly either. FWIW, in my airfix kit they are vertical…

I could use a couple of extra weeks. PP also said he could use some extra time. Anyone else still working on one?

Do we have a badge for this one?
How about this for the campaign medal?
Trying to mix things up a bit with this one.
Edit: I just updated the image above with a slight correction.
Variation with little wings for the hanger. Shooting for a retro 1940s look.
Large version…
The eagle is the symbol for North American Aviation. I drew it to look a bit more menacing than usual. The original plan was to put the B-25 over the NAA logo, then all of that inside a circle, but it was way too busy. However, having made the effort to draw the eagle, I wanted to fit it in.

I like them both. I prefer the 2nd one. What do others think?

The second one is definitely better. A few hours of sleep will often do that.

Any change requests for this one? Colors? Font? Do it over?
I like the second one. The retro 40’s style is perfect for the award!
Almost ready for paint.
Need the glass bubble on top and figure out what to do about the turret opening on the bottom of the fuselage. Then it’s masking ans painting. Finally. The clear parts in front fit very well. I can see that a tiny bit of filler will be needed on the top piece where it meets the top of the fuselage, but that’s only visible under my visor.
Now if I can get through masking and painting without knocking the two machine guns off the front…

Hope it went well and the gun survived.
I’m continuing to tinker with mine, but keep running into minor hiccups. Some my own fault, some might be the design of the kit.
For instance, was working on the gun turret today. Got the parts cleaned and painted green, then couldn’t find the machine guns. I remember sorting those out last week, but couldn’t remember seeing them since. Emptied out the box, nothing. Over an hour of searching and finally found it under the sofa.
Then, fitting the nose mounted machine guns. Everything looked like it was lined up ok till I dry fitted the glazing with the barrels through the holes. Guns were bent and funny angles until finally the guns popped off their mounting positions. Only solution I can think of is trimming the barrels and fitting them last, as I’ve done with the waist guns.
I’m quickly losing my mojo with this one, but I’m determined to see it through.
Masked!
Maybe I can finish in the extension? It took me an evening to do the masking, but it went much quicker than I hoped. If I’m doing it on a night when my hands are steady it does go fairly quickly. I have managed so far not to knock off the machine guns which is amazing really.
Anyone know whether there should be a hard edge between the main color and the underside color?
