Best Tank that Never Was - Part 3!

Grinding forward slowly…a round of oil wash today and drybrushing…

Looking good Wade!

My own entry is finished but has yet to get in the photo booth for the glamour shots. But I did take pics inside the turret before closing it up. (And yes I will eventually sort out the CAD to make the interior for a Gepard, but where’s that bucket of Time that I left lying around?..

I added some 0.060" strip fore and aft on the roof to help guide the interior to the right spot when gluing. And the white thing is a ratchet to engage the gear on the guns to keep them from flopping down under their own weight. Tamiya provides a part, but my conversion cut out the mount for it…

By the way, I might consider building the Sgt York DIVAD for the upcoming BTTNW 4 campaign…

Wow; and then some! That’s a fine piece of work there Tom. Congratulations.

Great job Tom. It is quite an appealing combination, almost like they were meant to be built together.

Nice job Wade. The sag looks nice. So many guys build the Cromwells with tight straight upper runs, when they were not really like that.

Excellent builds, guys! Some really interesting subjects and beautiful work!

I am grinding along with my geschutzwagen.

More to follow soon!

Hi gang,

As we near the end I make the list of “completeds” to be:

barkingdigger
BootsDMS
brekinapez
Damraska
Darktrooper
Jakko
MTTF
rfbaer

Coming up on the rail are:

Armor_Buff
SGTJKJ
Tank_1812

Have I missed anyone? And does anyone need an extension?

Once we have finished I plan to open a BTTNW pt4 campaign with the same rules, running for a year. Any interest?

I wish now that I had precipitated. I hope you have another campaign.

Keep an eye out Dan - I should be launching it next month! You’d be more than welcome to the workshop of failed dreams…

Would a Neubaufahrzeug qualify? I think five were built. Used briefly in Norway, long enough to determine they were a failure.

I have one as well. I wonder if we have differing vehicles?

What’s on your shelf?

#3-#5 here, Dragon #6690. I think Dragon/Cyber-Hobby had a couple of other versions or variations.

Amusing Hobby has a newer kit but I don’t recall which version.

Amusing is what I have:

It would appear to also be the final 3 production vehicles.

So we’ll see who wore it better.

If we can recruit seven more Neubaufahrzeug builders then we’ll have the entire run covered.

Tried to order the Amusing Hobby version a few times but it sold out by the time the order processed. Look forward to seeing it built up.

Anything with the word “failure” in its description has a home in these campaigns! I love the irony that we can have more built here than the Germans ever managed…

I’ll take part in another one of these campaigns. I’ve got two I have I in mind, but I’m waiting for delivery of an order that includes one of them and bits for the other …

So that appears to be three interested so far with at least two NBFZ inbound.

Well I have no plans to disappear overseas for 9 months straight again… so I’ll be up for the next one.

The Amusing Hobby Neubaufahrzeug is much more accurate than the Dragon or Trumpeter ones. The only real issue is a slightly undersize cupola, but I didn’t worry about that when I built mine.

Sadly, my finished build was a casualty of my move to new digs last year - flattened when my son tripped and dropped a very heavy box of tools right on top of the box holding this and a couple of others.
