Build A Photo 2 Campaign

Everyone… Just a bump for this and to find out where people are at with it.

I am seriously pushed with builds I have going on. And although it’s a 12 month build, I will be thinking of extending the finish of it to 01April 2022. I don’t think I will be able to start this in earnest until 01 May at the earliest.

I will be a late starter with the other builds I have committed to. Happy for you to push back the start date to May.

I think because it already went active, I will just extend it next year… Saves all the faffing about then :+1:

Have decided on what I will be eventually doing for this build.

There are a few more images with recovery crew trying to secure the barrel prior to the vehicle being moved, so I may try and incorporate one or 2 of those , or maybe just this image of the wagon. I have a Dragon 3 in 1 Panther G so just need to check the mantlet to make sure it has the rounded one and not just the chin, and no crew heater.

I will be doing this photo of a Sherman from the Ontario Regiment in the '70s

I will be using the nice Tamiya 1/35 M4E8.

And great decals from Autoloader!

Check your references. There is a good chance the Sherman’s in the photo are M4A2E8’s so will have a different engine deck. I also suspect they would have the T-84 rubber tracks on since they appear to be driving on asphalt but that’s just a guess.

Darn, I just checked your right they are M4a2E8 with rubber tracks…

I had to dig pretty deep to find that info so I bet I can throw some rubber tracks on and no one would tell the difference as the only photos show the fronts.

I would appreciate pushing back the end date. I probably won’t be starting until May either.

Phil, as I said above, due to it already being active, I will happily push the finish date back to at least end of April 2022, so you will have bags of time. :+1:

I wouldn’t…
Unless I’m convinced I did my utmost to make it right.

Soooooo(@Panzer_modeler)- you CAN, Ezra!

Pressure is now on @Panzer_modeler

No pressure, John- except from the nice haul of kits he received recently…
I’m sure he can!

Cheers,

Yah good point guys … I’ll see if I can find a spare A2 engine deck and tracks and try to convert it.

I hate those sleepless nights!

Ezra, you’re young … you will recover quicker than we will lol …

That may be true…

The only reason I was hesitant to convert it was because I had already glued on the engine deck with Tamiya quick set and was worried I couldn’t remove it without breaking something, but luckily after about 15 min I was able to pop it off with an x-acto it off and still have everything in one piece.

I have some more bad news, wont just be the engine deck you will need to fiddle with. The back plate and exhausts are different too.

Here is the Tamiya M4A3E8 (from the tamiya website)

And here is a screengrab from youtube of one of the Ontario Regiment Museums M4A2E8’s

Welcome to the wonderful world of building Sherman’s :stuck_out_tongue:

Down the rabbit hole I go!
Luckily I have a bunch of leftover Sherman parts so I think I’ll be able to convert this.
