Angel - beautiful work! I’d love to “borrow” your parts/supply box! - might forget to give it back
Cheers
Nick
Thanks Nick!
NP giving you my spare box, problem is I have to find it first
Cheers,
Angel
Got some job done on the Einheitsanhaenger 5t.
Basecolor sprayed, some details painted:
Wooden planks and beams as part of the load, they’ll take some weathering:
2 transition ramps/assault bridges(Übergangsschienen) scratchbuilt- one is 16 t., the other is 24 t.
A short note here:
I wasn’t aware 24 t. capacity ramps ever existed , untill I saw and pictured one stored under the halfpontoon of the Pontonwagen Pf.11 displayed in a museum in Bulgaria:
I still need to scratchbuild the most common 8t transition ramp, the one on the left was “borrowed” as a size refference from my Pontonwagen Pf.11 model.
There will be a small rubber raft as part of the load too, this one is from Bronco:
I’ll add some other details in the back of the load bed like some pontoon anchors and probably some halfbeams and connecting beams that were part of the spares/supplementary materials of the Brückengerät B
Cheers,
Angel
That is yet more brilliant work Angel, those ramps/bridges look amazing. You are going great guns with this tribute
Well done, Angel!
I hope to see him up close soon. The boat fits perfectly into your idea of pioneering trailer equipment.
Kalin
Hello!
More on my project in the topic.
The body of Sd.Kfz.251 / 2 is finished, the tracks are ready, I put the doors and added more elements to the interior.
Here are some pictures:
That’s all for now!
Kind regards and Cheers!
Kalin
Beautiful work Kalin. It just gets better and better.
I have finished the Citroen 11CV. 1/48th scale was a learning curve - I learned it will be my first and last…
It is a scale that is too big to get away with soft detail and clunky parts (ala 1/72nd) and too small to be able to really be able to detail and bring out the best (ala 1/35th).
I am not happy with the windows, but after 3 attempts, this is how it will end. It is impossible to glue them without getting a film of Clearfix on the pane, which at this scale looks terrible.
I painted it gloss black, but it looked like a toy car, so I hit it with some satin varnish over that. The light used to take the photo’s over emphasises the opaque finish - makes it look dimpled.
Poor macro on the camera - had a hard time in focus, but the interior and dash gauge is visible
I think I need to do something better for this build.
I think the car looks great and it is a interesting base to top it all off. I do understand wanting something different but to me you achieved the goals you posted in your second post about why you chose this kit.
I second Ryan, Peter!
I think the Citroen looks perfect and being 1/48 makes it a real tribute to Speedy J’s versatility in modelling subject and scales!
Well done, buddy!
Angel
Although I know this modelling venture is not finished yet, I cannot miss to praise you for your 251/2, Kalin!
I came across a picture of one of Robert Jan’s Anhaengers full with load(and a motorcycle) the other day and dare to say your attention to detail and load with this build matches the high level standard Robert established!
Really well done!
Cheers,
Angel
Don’t beat yourself up @petbat , I think you have done a cracking job in this scale and achieved the aim. I also like the base it’s on … nice job
I agree with your opinion on 1/48 scale. But … I like the effect of your work. Reminds me of the use of this car during the war.
The glass in the photo looks like it has just thawed. I would make a little winter diorama.
Congratulations, Peter!
Kind regards and Cheers!
Kalin
Use semi-gloss black
This was at a time when we were both building Sd.Kfz.251 / 5 or 7. That was the reason I chose this model for this topic. As far as I remember then we participated (including Peter) in a campaign for machines of the pioneer units.
Kalin
You’re right Kalin!
The campaign was Once More Unto the Breach on the old Armorama site
https://archive.armorama.com/forums/272478/index.htm
And that’s the picture of Robert’s Sd.Anh.52 I found the other day
Cheers,
Angel
I remember that one. He put some amazing detail into it.
Good memory! Yes that was a great build to be part of.
That is a great idea!
Unfortunately the LHS was out, so I went the semi-gloss over gloss.
Thanks for the kind words guys.
I have decided to do a second build. Angel is building the kit Robert never got to finish. This got me thinking, so I am going to finish a build I started, but for some reason never finished. The Bronco M22 Locust:
I think I put it aside as it is at interior paint stage and all my paint, etc was crated for when we had packed up to move to this house. That makes it a 5 year shelf queen.
Here’s a couple more. Let me know if you need more detailed pictures.
I’m really enjoying seeing all the updates. The Traction looks very nice, great job.
Think Robert would have the same issues/frustration with the windows…
Cheers,
Luc
You are too kind Luc…
