Nice work to date and look forward to your progress. Haven’t seen anyone use a Touch N Flow for years! I still use them as well.

Nice. No decals for the brit ammo boxes, the 3.7in AA - 1st & 4th from left on the bow?

Looking at the turret build and your hand size for comparison and I’m like “Jesus H. Christ on a Motorbike”, that thing is huge! Great looking build.

The Ammo boxes were re-purposed to carry other stuff.
Value gear doesn’t have decals with there sets , otherwise they would cost a lot more.

This is a really nice build and if you follow my build it should make assembling it a lot easier.
The only thing that I think I would change is to remove the 2 large nuts on the sides of the gun mount.
You can only see them when looking in the turret from a low rear angle , and they make the Gun install difficult. You have to spread the front sides to get them in and it risks breaking the joint seams on the turret.

Thanks Donald
We used to have one of those 3.7 in AA boxes, used to store tools in it, but haven’t seen it for years.
The markings were fairly prominent stenciled yellow. You’d have to repaint the box to miss them.
They were prized amongst NZ tank & APC crews post war for stowage, really tough & roomy.

Looks great. I’d think about maybe a lighter dust pass and some different colour pigments on those tracks, maybe a wash etc, maybe some grime effects around the underside etc, some panel liner/wash on the stowage etc, and then a flat coat to finish off but it looks really nice. The internal details and finish inside etc is really effective and looks superb. It makes a really positive impression.

How long did it take you in full, beginning to end?

I built a AHHQ StuG III in 16th scale when it came out and was suprised to note that it took less time than its 35 scale counterpart. Being a much larger model you’d expect it to take much longer but that wasnt what I found. What was your experience?

No idea how long it took , I was going to mark the start but forgot.
I just checked the time stamp on the first Pic and that was January 1st 2023
So about a month time would be close.
It seems forever while doing it , I really got tired doing it.
Hey I’m going to be 77 in a few weeks and was contemplating if I want to do this anymore.
Resting now

Knocking that out in a month is seriously impressive, Donald. You’ve got a really nice result with it too.

I heard a rumour DasWerk/Takom/AHHQ are coming out with an M3 Stuart and a M24 Chaffee later this year, I promised myself no more 1/16th scale but I would find these hard to resist.

Enjoy your rest buddy.

100% in for one of those, or an M40 if they did!

I’m always impressed by your builds Donald! That’s amazing to complete a 1/16 scale build in about a month.

Curious what’s your thoughts on Das Werks/Takom’s new 1/16 Puma that’s announced?

I want it , but if I buy it , I don’t know.
My health is not the best , I don’t know if I’ll be still alive when it’s released.
I was out to the grocery store in my power chair and almost got run over by some asshole from ohio speeding through a crosswalk. I hesitated and that is the only reason that I’m still alive.
Yes I want it along with the Greyhound ,The PAK40, The Sdkfz251 with Pak40.
Basically all the new 1/16th . kits coming out.
I’ll be building them here as long as I can , If you don’t here from me after a while then I have probably gone home

Ironically, one of my elderly neighbours who was minding her own business outside the local Co-Op was run over by an asshole in a power chair…

She died three weeks later.

Donald, that sounds like a harrowing experience. I’m happy you came through unharmed.

Myself and other intrested folks will be following your builds when they’re shared. I enjoy your builds as these are the only 1/16 builds that keep my interest. The pictures and explanations have a lot of insight.

Cheers :beers:

I want to express my thanks for your posts. I started a few days before you and I wish I had found your posts earlier. It was sucking the life out of me but it did test my build techniques. Lots of tooing and froing. The 1/35 instructions from Tamiya are better than the ones supplied if you want to get the build right in your head. Too many “loose” indicators as to where a part goes. I just need minor bits done and then ready for paint. I have some value gear left overs so might use them.
I am 63 and housebound, sometimes bedbound, with heart failure, diabetes and need to sleep with a ventilator. Plus a rack of other problems. I am definately StaBLE (Stash Beyong Life Expectancy) but hey. It keeps my grey cells working. The research also is very interesting. If it fell together we’d never improve. I love MRP paints but can’t deal with the chemicals so stopped using them. Now it’s Tamiya or vallejo (I know I know that people don’t like them but with the right additives an NO Alcohol then they work for me)
Thanks again.

Thanks for your comments , I to use only those paints.
I’m going to be starting the 1/16th. M4A3E8 Late ww2 / Korea kit next but don’t know if I should post it.
It is close to the Early version I built and posted here.
What do you guys think ? Should I build and post it or just keep it to myself ?
