I went through a number of my kits with German helmets to find one that is the closest fit to the Bulgarian helmet. I settled on a Tamiya helmet from a (very) old kit as the lip of the helmet is very small and close to the Bulgarian helmet - at least from the side.
I have then sanded the top rounder and rounder using first 240 grid paper and ending with 1200 grid paper.
I have been careful not to take too much off. I can always sand more off - it is more difficult to put it back
How do you think it looks? Should I take more of?
Sorry for the quality of the pictures. Very difficult to photograph something that small.
And also got a coat on the wheels. Will leave them over night then do the rubber rims and metal bearing areas on the inner wheels, idlers and sprocket rings.
I have to say it again, these AK RC paints go on like a dream… And I love the finish it gives you.
A few bits will get down by brush as a touch up, namely the top of the mantlet under the rain guard as I had the gun elevated so missed a bit …stay safe everyone
Great work on the Panther, Johnny. Coming together nicely.
Angel, thanks for the cool picture. I have given the helmet a second round and will take a third round with ultra fine sanding tomorrow. I think I am getting close
Yeah I genuinely can’t fault them… They just seem like the ideal paint. I’m thinking of making these my go to paint now and running down my Tamiya stock and just keeping a few old favourites.
Thanks Kalin, I will have to get those registration numbers sorted so Angel can sort out the correct font for Bulgarian ones. I will also make a star mask up for the turret markings.
I’m thinking of making a Bulgarian flag and drapping it over the front LH mudguard and part of the front plate …
Thanks for the encouragement on the Panther … Hopefully I will do it some sort of justice. And s massive thanks for the Veh Reg’s… I’m sure everyone taking part in this build really appreciate yours and Kalins @k_mero4 insights into all things Bulgarian to help us without builds
Thank you gentlemen for the kind words! My share is insignificant compared to the efforts that Angel has made. Which I admire.
As for your work, I can heartily congratulate you.
Jesper, I think your actions are in the right direction.
Kind regards!
Kalin
