Calling out a know-it-all on Facebook

Thanks for the support guys. I’m quite content with the knowledge that this bottom feeder has publicly shown himself up to be an idiot who can’t accept publicly verifiable facts.
I’m done with him and will leave it at that.
To quote my hero, Rik Mayall ‘Who was right? It was me wasn’t it!’

Not only the members. One admin on one sight thinks anything that has a word wit “R” or “U” in it is political.I commented one time that the T-64 was built at the factory in Kharkiv, which is why the Ukrainians prefer them over the T-72, etc. He shut the thread down saying that where something was built or who used it had nothing to do with model building… What a prat. In the sites defense there are some excellent builders/ researchers on there that I get great info from … some are on here too. (Hi,Guys!)

Applies anything discussed on social media in many cases.

This guy falls into the class of what we like to call Experten - Pompous, self-important, bombastic loud mouthed pseudo expert know-it-alls who will gather the largest audience possible to hear their proclamations of how it really was or to tear someone’s model apart without any empirical evidence. They thrive on perpetuating myths that have been proven false and creating new ones. They take mistakes they have made as fact and when confronted with irrefutable evidence they resort to irrelevant sarcasm and name calling. Unfortunately our hobby is rife with them and the internet allows them to operate from the safety of their Mom’s basement. It seems at least one gets to every model show, too.

Because they have been bred and pampered for their entire lives.

The saga has continued today.
A couple of other people chipped in to correct him and were met with the same dismissal and abuse.
It’s comical.

Like i said, is more of an ego thing for this guy more than anything. he doesn’t care if he’s factually correct, he just want to feel that he’s smarter than anyone else, to feed his frail ego.

I’m also convinced he’s one of several on the page who don’t actually build anything. Or if they do, never share because they’re scared of constructive feedback.

Ah! The not-so-elusive page troll that likes to give his opinion, wherever wanted or not. You’re right, he probably doesn’t even do any scale modeling and loves to opine, just to read himself. SOunds to me, like i said before, that his base of knowledge on WW1/WW2 armor is off the “World Of Tanks” game.

And Wikipedia. But calls other more trusted sources fake.
Wonder what the next installment will be?

Just be aware that they may not be know it all’s. For many its a sport just to wind other up.
Getting a reaction for some is their goal.
Ignoring them is the best solution.

I completely agree with Bruce. Just ignore him and he will go away.

A stellar example of why I am no longer on Facebook.

Think that’s bad though? Audio forums can be brutal and exhausting. Too easy to offend the golden-eared curmudgeons.

But here? Gotta say it’s definitely very cool.

Thanks for all you do!

Which FB page is this so I know to avoid it? Can’t you just block this person?

Phew! I cannot believe this thread (and my attention to it) has gone this far.

Back to the tankworks (my cellar)

Be well.
