That is a very interesting idea but as you indicated, there are not many models of European science fiction subjects.
Big 3 is fine. Japanese science fiction can be another campaign for another time.

The Japanese SciFi is a good idea actually… There’s a lot to choose from …
Yeah we’re a bit depleted! There are some Thunderbirds kits and Space 1999 Eagles, but the cupboard is bare for everything else. I think Imai did some UFO stuff years ago. And Airfix did Dr Who about 10 years ago. Maybe a few of those can still be found? As for Red Dwarf, there was a vinyl Kryten produced in the 90’s, but he goes for silly money these days. Might be some options from 3D printers. I know Cozmic do the Dwarf crew figures.
Japanese SF campaign would be interesting. While I don’t have anything myself, it would be fun to see what people do for it.
There are some really exotic science fiction models out there if one knows what to look for. Revell of Germany released 4 models from the Perry Rhodan universe. They are long out of production but available on eBay. It looks like 3D printing is the only option for Starbug.
A couple of ideas I would like feedback on…
Bi-planes?
Great war 2024? (this would just be a repeat of Great War 2023. I really liked seeing all the builds of things that don’t have wings, just not sure how interested people are in the period. It seems like it might be one of those things that a few people might like to cycle into every now and then, but perhaps not annually?)
I would do another Great War campaign. I have a number of WW I ships, and a few Bi-planes for a Bi-plane campaign
…and here, I was thinking Great War 2024 meant a combined Israeli-Gaza, Ukraine-Russia, Venezuela-Bogota, Armenia-Azerbaijani, Yemen-Houthi pirate campaign…
World War I is a very interesting time period for advances in machine technology. I purchased a Model T Ambulance for the Great War 2023 campaign but ran out of time to build it Over the next few years, I want to build all the major World War I tanks so from my perspective, World War I campaigns are great. (HaHa!)
Two months back, I purchased a German Bucker Bu 131 trainer that would work for a bi-plane campaign. (They were in production into the 1990s!)
If someone else would volunteer to run a biplane campaign, that would be great. If you have trouble setting them up I’m happy to do that and put your handle as the person running the campaign. I’m already running a few campaigns and I feel over-committed to that.
Yes to both another WW1 and to a separate biplane campaign. I have some nifty 20s-30s birds that need buildin.
Paul
We have another WW1 thing going. If I set up a biplane campaign, will you be the one who runs it? I’m thinking mid-year start? 9 mos?
Biplane campaign sounds fun. I have two Moths that need building….
I used to run campaigns before the Big Changes but have no idea what to do at this point. Assuming that I could figure it out, I would expand the idea - Biplanes & Other Rigged Aircraft. I would want to include the many monoplanes as well as triplanes from all eras including post war aerobatic & sport aircraft that were rigged.
So - if that is acceptable to you LMK what is needed to get going. A one year run starting in June or so would suit me.
Paul
I will set it up and put you down as the one running it. I think all you will need to do is tell people whether they want to do is allowed or not, encourage everyone periodically, and at the end tally a list of who completed and send it to staff jim…
OK, let’s give it a whirl. What’s the worst that can happen?
Paul
Indeed. May not get to it until next week as I’m a little behind it in my personal life, but I won’t forget.
Look it over and let me know if you need me to edit anything, but I think it is what we were thinking?
Gee, I’m not seeing it here on this thread. Is there another place to look?
Paul
Here it is. I thought it would give you a notification since I put you as the admin:
I would only like to add:
“Models must be completed, painted & rigged to qualify for the award.”
I was in one campaign a few years ago where someone just glued the kit together little kid style and wanted to get an award. The leader lowered the boom at that point.
