Ah good call… Those vents are on the sprues
Getting close to the end! Only a few small parts to go on the turret
And more questions lol, for starters does anyone know how this him attaches?
There is a square hole in it which makes me think something should go through it, and there “weld marks” on the turret where it should go. But I’ve combed the instructions and there is seemingly no part that goes there. Wouldn’t be the first time they missed a part though, the turret periscope has this in the instructions
But fitting it this way leaves a hole in the turret. Photos clear show it is mounted in a piece of steel
Turns out you need a part b28 as was used on the hull periscopes
Next, 3 of the marking options have these tarps? Id panels? Something? Trouble is absolutely no mention of them in the instructions and no part for them. I assume they were canvas painted with callsigns, anyone know the best way to recreate them? I am talking about the parts with what looks like what I can best describe as the number 11 but it’s clearly Hebrew text
h
Yes those are ID panels/tarps. When ou search the web you come across is a lot of people using lead foil for them, like what you find on the top of wine bottles. That is why doing IDF tanks is fun, you need to drink 2-3 bottles of wine per tank to get enough lead foil
Using some tissue with glue is also possible but much less fun
Like Bert said for the ID panels. Lead foil or plain white tissue soaked with white PVA and painted like my Bulgarian flag.
The first pic and the area between the rear basket and side bin, on mine that’s where the spot light is stored/ mounted when not in use, is it the same for your Shot Kal ?
Anyone know the correct ak real color for a 1973 shot ? They have both IDF sand grey and IDF sand grey 1970-1980. It looks like the 1973 might be discontinued
Edit: looks like 1973 is now called early sandy yellow
I will be using the early sand yellow on mine, it’s RC096.
This is the colours through the glass in the same order as above .
The middle one, 095 sinai grey 1982 is very very close to the early yellow sand …
Fantastic thank you! It looks like they changed the name from Sinai grey 1973 to early sand yellow but they have the same RC096 code
Yes that’s right
I think RC096 is pretty close.
What kind of varnish do you use over Real Colors? I am having issues with the ModelMaster acrylic gloss varnish I am using on all of the other paints.
I’ve used future over real colors with no issues
I’ve used Future, Mr. Colour and AK’s acrylic varnishes without issues
Hi All
So I started to do my builds currently slowly. But this is what I have done today so far .
- I found my conversion of a legends puma wheel I did many moons ago . ( probably use them on Gimel or Dalet versions)
- solid wheel I have accurate armours and also I have one set from strv 104 conversion kit from Hobbyfan.
3 kit wheel . shot cal will be kit wheel .
road wheels have a choice kit ones which are good I use umbral glue to stick them on and I ghave. set of sovereign 2000 centurion wheels
will use the sovereign wheels for the upgraded versions.
so I have been studying my books and see AFV Club have made some errors in there Dallet and Gimel kits regarding roof tiles and other things these I will cover as I build mine. I am intending to build both Shots along side each other .

Isn’t that style of idler wheel with the six holes found on the Chieftain? I’m saving them from some old Tamiya kits just in case…
Hi i am afraid not
Chieftain wheels are smaller and also inner segment of the wheel is same size .
Centurion TA wheel is bigger and the inner wheel is half the width of the external part of the wheel.
May look the same but the two different wheels
Ossie
I never noticed the different width of the both wheels. Accurate Armour missed that feature too.
Olivier
Are you talking about the idler wheel?
The TA wheel and the normal road wheels are different.
Hi 18 Bravo
yes track adjuster or idler wheel to you .
road wheels are different but can be fitted to chieftain and centurion , centurion slightly bigger diameter .
Done the main construction on this one! Have some tools to add and the .30 cal, but I’ll make those up later when I’m ready for painting, which won’t happen till I move into my permanent house and can unpack my airbrush.
Curios, what is this piece?
