And all clear!

hi built these wheels a month ago and I used normal Revell contact glue with no issues and they are fine

Many thanks, I have already washed the parts with dish soap, then glued the rubber to the plastic with pva glue. I plan to prime the wheels before adding the track, so the only area where plastic touches rubber is on the inner side of the rims.

Is anyone in this group build doing Avigdor Kahalani’s tank in the Yom Kippur War? I did a search for his name, and found 1 or 2 instances, where someone was asking about the map holder on the turret, but no indication that Kahalani’s tank was actually going to be a subject of this group build by anyone. I’ve had the 1973 Shot Kal AFV Club kit for years with a ton of aftermarket, with the intent of one day building Kahalani’s tank, and just curious whether anyone here was going to do that. I’d love to join this build group, but I don’t know that I’d be successful within the time frame.

Curt, As you mentioned, I think his particular C/S was mentioned and the map board highlighted but no one has said they are actually building it. Would be a nice addition if you can do it … you have 7 months … and there are lot of very knowledgeable IDF Centurion people here … :+1:

Get started !! It’s always another model from stock!

Congratulations Curt, you just volunteered!

I focused on working on the mantlet, since the cover seemed a bit hard to adapt. Glued in place with CA glue, had to cut a Π shaped cut around the mg bulge. Filled with CA and a bit of paper. Spare photoetch was used for the tie down strips.

Good job with all of that Nikos. The superglue and paper filler worked well. :+1:

Looks great Nikos. Was it an early Shot version ?

It is a Jordanian Mk5. Haven’t started on the early Shot yet

Ah ok, so IDF Cents going against Jordanian Cents would of happened during the 6DW ?

If I recall correctly the IDF centurions never faced the Jordanian ones. I think it was Shermans and M48s.

Ok, good to know, I wasnt sure about the time frame and who had what type of hardware in the conflict :+1:

During the '67 war IDF M48s were deployed on the Southern Front (Sinai) only.

Jordan deployed both its own M48s and Centurions on the West Bank (in Samaria and Judea, respectively).

I think the IDF Central Command also deployed Shot’s on the West Bank, but as far as I remember in Samaria rather than in Judea, where 44 Jordanian Centurions were stationed. Based on this, I’d say an IDF Sho’t vs. a Jordanian Centurion scenario during the Six Day War is unlikely.

On a side note, 30 of the Jordanian Centurions captured in and around Hebron entered IDF service (fun fact: IDF tankers actually preferred these ex-Jordanian vehicles as they were in a better shape than their own).

BTW, out of the 44 Jordanian Centurions and 170 M48s present on the West Bank on the eve of the war, around 130 were captured intact or in repairable condition and entered IDF service after the war, alongside hundreds of all sorts of other AFVs that were captured on the Golan Heights and in Sinai. Amazingly, the hulls of some of these might be still around as Nagmachons, Nakpadons, Pumas and Achzarits.

The IDF are masters of re-purposing vehicles and getting the maximum use out of them. Some amazing engineering feats.

Modifying the hull of the Sho’t to accept the M48’s diesel powerpack and giving the M48 the L7 gun of the Sho’t was an ingenious move.

For those who are interested in lots and lots of IDF pictures on Centurions (and other tanks etc) , go to Facebook and look up Ed Okun…
