Chieftain Mk11 Stillbrew

Got the headlight guards on, a bit fiddly as they are 3 parts and you have to add the PE support arms for the splash plate before you fit them…anyway … They are on…

And more padlock hasps added to front and rear bins…

Will do the side long bins tomorrow and there are a few turret bins need them as well…

I’ll watch for the splash on this side of the pond…

Although not the easiest things to see, I thought I might as well add the drain holes to all the hull side bins. They were simple holes with a rubber plug in.

Have to add the padlock hasps to the long bin.

Also had a bit of a mare with the LHS long bin… I glued them together, went out to take dog for a walk and found on my return the LHS ones top had popped away from the bottom and dried rock hard… Luckily I have 2 spare Accurate Armour ones so can use one of those, but the back will need about 1mm sanding off it… Maybe 2mm…

John. Try running some Tamiya extra thin along the joint and after a bit try and separate the halves. this has worked for me in the past.

Will give that a try as I want to try and keep the bin if possible as a spare.

I was just doing this myself a couple days ago.

Thank you Pete.

AK extra thin works as well … A bit of tidying up and sanding and it will be a decent spare for a Cr1 turret side long bin :+1:

Edit. I’ve cleaned the bin up and I am going to try and make the 4 locking catches and the 2 padlock hasps… The AK extra thin softened up the locking catches a bit to much, so I can’t really keep those, making them from the PE is the only option … I will end up fitting this bin back on the wagon.

Sorted the messed up rear long bin…

And added the PE clasps and padlock hasps.

Cupola PE wipers next.

Outstanding work! Always more fun when a build has personal attachment, but that can always drive us detail fanatics to the beverages lol

Really? Given your choices? My sister sent this to me from St,. Andrews when they were looking at universities for Lachlan, her son. I think I had told you about that. It’s the Criterion Pub.

Is it just the novelty of having something from the US, or is it really that good?

I remember when I went to uni at Northern Michigan, we all wanted Coors because you couldn’t get it east of the Mississippi back then. It was really shyte beer, but you couldn’t get it, so everyone wanted it!

Yeah, you mentioned about the Uni’s. JD is the only short I drink. Maybe the occasional long G &T in the summer. In my younger days I would drink anything thrown in my general direction … Southern Comfort was my fav for years, then while out in Gibraltar for 3 months I did a whole bottle and then Tequila and got properly smashed on it… Since then just the smell of SC makes me want to hurl chunks… A few months later I tried a shot of JD (probably about 1985) and that’s the only short I properly drink now.

I know what you mean about about Coors and Colt 45…they were one of those semi cool drinks to have way back then… I won’t mention about me and my mate in Cyprus on the UN tour doing a crate of Colt 45 (mega cheap), a litre bottle of Bailey’s and a 2lt bottle of Cypriot sherry (even mega cheaper lol) that was I night I try hard not to remember lol … Patrolling the buffer zone the next day was not fun…

Jager is my SC. Decades ago at the yearly work mushroom dinner. Lots of beer and then a few shots of Jager did me in as I didn’t follow the old adage.
Jose is still a lying MF, too many nights in TJ but we are cool. Pulling range targets after a night of fun is not a good idea.
