It’s looking great Olivier. Just a small point though, the front side lights should be clear only the rears are red.
Thank you. I will fix this tomorrow. Strangely enough Takom do not give the part as a clear one.
Olivier
I have done them with tape,
start across the face first then a wrap around with creases to show gathered ,
then painted them.
Here are some pictures to show the faded paint. I still haven’t fixed the front side lights color.
Olivier
Very nice faded look Olivier, Really good overall colour and how you’ve blended it all. The bellows at the end of the barrel where it comes out the turret, that would usually be black. In a lot of images it may look green, but will be just very very faded black or its been repainted by a private owner. One or 2 may have been over painted in green by a crew but that would of been picked up on inspections and rectified.
One thing which I really really love to see are the very small little touches to detail which although small, add so much to the trained eye when you see it. Painting the L37 feed tray silver is very nice, ( I have forgotten to do it on every GPMG so far lol) jumps out to me and a great realistic touch … well done. Are you doing the end of the recovery ropes in silver/alloy ? and the ropes a metallic/dirty metal colour ?
Again thanks for the inputs. I will paint the bellow in the appropriate manner.
Concerning the tow ropes I thought the ends were painted green. I can give them some metallic finish with some pencil powder. The ropes themselves are already painted a dark metallic shade. I’ll enhance the look of them.
Olivier
That is excellent paint work Olivier, really coming together nicely.
I haven’t forgotten this beast. I sprayed multiple layers of dust and dirt mainly on the side skirts and the bottom of the hull. I just sprayed a thin coat of dust on the upper surfaces of the hull.
I’m close to call it done pending your comments.
Olivier
Nothing that needs commenting on from here Olivier, that’s a lovely soft sympathetic weathering with just the light dusting. Great job on the build and you’ve finished up with a top Mk11.
Are you leaving the turret baskets empty ? There is no reason to fill them… Wagons in barracks would be dekitted so it looks realistic either way
Can’t remember if you said you were planning on fitting antennas ? Again in barracks or even for driver training they wouldn’t need to be fitted … So it works perfectly as it is
Very, very nice Olivier. Build, paint and weathering all executed spot on. Well done!
Cheers, Jim.
Excellent job Olivier. Love the subtle dusting.
Very very nice indeed!
The soft weathering process came out nice. Its the one area that I still need to get handle on as I tend to over do it. You sure nailed it.
Thanks for the kind comments.
Johnny I’ll probably fill the baskets with some oil or fuel tanks. If I can drill out the ABA I could add the antennas.
Concerning the weathering I’ll add some pigments and maybe some satin varnish to the lower parts to simulate wet earth.

I’m starting a Takom Mk 11 chieftain, where can I find alternate TAC markings?
Are you after a particular tank from a ref picture ?
I want to recreate a tank from the 17/21st Lancers
Most UK armourmed TAC signs are generic (most) and from that time period you would find them in yellow or black.
Accurate Armour do very good generic sets to cover all Sqns and Veh C/S’s and they do these in a black and a yellow set. I have both I think, and worth the money.
Registrations are more tricky unless you have an image of a specific wagon you want to do, your only real option is printing your own VRN on decal paper or at a push, normal photo copy paper (you can get away with it as I have done it the past) but vehicles could and did shift around sometimes so a VRN from the kit decals wouldnt really hurt anyway.
If you wanted to add the Death or Glory badge that will be trickier, I know of one on a Star decal sheet, Balkans Peacekeepers set 35 C 1293 and it has the D or G badge on that wrongly identified as a HCR badge on a CVRT- its not, its definitely Death or Glory. It also has the Union flags as well which you will see on some wagons as well.

Thats the one. The top right CVRT is ID’d as a HCR one, but its a 17/21st wagon. The only HCR bit I could see was a blue /red/blue Gideon/pennant.
