Corvette Project Part 1 - C1 Series (1953-1962)

Test fitting the interior tub to the body tonight, some minor adjustments to be made but it’s looking good!

Keeping myself moving while I work through the strategy on the big V8 build, I’ve managed to do the BMF on the interior surround trim and fit the interior tub in place. Test fit here on the rolling chassis to see how things line up, very happy with the progress on this one!

question from a non car builder - Do you do anything to the chrome ready parts or just leave them as is ? I was thinking in regards to cut marks from the sprue removal etc ?

And of course it looks stunning in black & red :+1:

Thanks for checking in John, much appreciated!

In most cases the sprue attachment points aren’t on highly visible surfaces, so I carefully tidy them up and touch them up with either a Molotow pen or some Vallejo Metal Color Chrome acrylic paint.

If the chrome is in poor condition or there are flaws in the plastic part underneath I will strip the chrome and repaint the whole thing.

Hi folks. I’ve had precious little bench time for a couple of months now but managed to get a bit more done on the '57. Down to some finishing touches now then clean off those greasy fingerprints and dust specks

I wonder what percentage of builds of this car went with the red ext/white int scheme? I can guarantee I know of at least one other for sure. I also somehow know it is the AMT 1/25 release from 2010.

Glad to see you back at it D.

Well the '57 Corvette crossed the finish line today. Some quick shots taken out on the deck plus a couple of family snaps with the older siblings (53, 54, 55 and 56).

Now, where did I stash that '58 ? :face_with_monocle:

Speaking of which, O…M…G !!! :star_struck:

That would be a great garage to go into each morning and have to choose who to drive … Beautiful lines and finishes on all of them…

Many thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated!

Well, I was in the mood so I cracked straight on with the '58! Some parts clean-up on the body and panels, and some assembly on the engine and chassis. No issues to report at this stage.

Well, I take that back. One issue to report. I picked this kit up pre-loved and it appears to have met with some aquatic shenanigans at some stage. The instructions and decal sheet are both showing signs of dampness.

Oh well, when it gets to that stage I will see what I can salvage from the decal sheet.

I’ve also done some searching for reference images and it seems like Yellow was a popular colour on the '58. Since I’ve already got White, Blue. Red and Black covered, I might go this way.

58 Panama Yellow

Awesome builds D. What a line up.

Panama yellow, would be a good choice, for the ´58. Regal turquoise isn’t to bad either.
