Corvette Project Part 1 - C1 Series (1953-1962)

That engine looks great in the chassis. The black shell also looks very smooth.

Thanks mate! Yes, I’m pretty pleased with the black finish, just the usual few pesky dust specks to polish out before I hit it with Clear Gloss. The part I’m not looking forward to is masking off the trim across the dashboard that needs to be painted to match the interior

Here is the hood prior to clear coat . . . .

And this afternoon I got the clear gloss laid on. SMS Super Clear Lacquer, one mist coat followed by 2 wet coats then a shot of neat MLT.

I will give this a few days to cure fully then do some polishing.

Spending a very quiet New Years Eve by myself, Battle of Britain movie on in the background, bourbon my oldest son gave me for christmas, and some Tamiya Fine Polishing Compound :sunglasses:

Before . . . . . . .

After . . . . . .

I did this with the Dremel, a few spots that need touching up I will use Q-Tip and cloth.

Happy New Year everybody!

Looks great. Careful you don’t want to get PUI, polishing while intoxicated. Can lead to all kinds of problems.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Ok, just in case you missed it folks, I have started the big V8 but in a dedicated build log thread here . . .

1/6 Scale 283 Small Block V8 - '57 Corvette - Automotive - KitMaker Network

There are 19 steps in the build, and almost every step is like a mini-kit!

Polishing done, time to mask off the side flashes and spray SMS Super Silver.

I really need to get myself another 0.3mm airbrush to use for general painting and dedicate the current one to metallics. There are a few tiny specks of silver pigment visible in the clear coat

made some time today to mask and spray, as always some touch-ups required but I’m really happy with the finish so far.

Thanks Gavin!

One of those fiddly jobs I was putting off, but it needed to get done before I can move on . . . . .

Moving along, the dashboard is installed under the body recess and the engine/transmission assembly is in place on the chassis.

Wheels on the chassis and BMF on the body trims next.
