CVR(T) Striker - C Sqn HCR

And thanks Richard, I hope to get a base coat of green on over the weekend as I’m back on duty now sadly.

Used to be worn in barracks on the tank park and on exercise but over the years combats for exercises became the norm so it’s just really on the tank park now.

Ok I see.

Thank you John, watching this model come together has been great and very informative.

God I so want that Striker lol…

They have some items of clothing issued which are the same as standard only black. Coveralls, berets, Norwegian shirts, pullovers and belts. I was told a tale many years ago that 17th/21st Lancers wanted to adopt black coveralls however RTR threw a hissy and the powers that be couldn’t have them wear them due to their cap badge or motto as they call it. Especially as they were in Germany a lot!! Don’t know how true that is though.

We used to wear black Norwegians as well many moons ago in Germany, to go with our black cap badge.

So not all British tank units wear the black coveralls I take it ? Very interesting.

No, it’s just the RTR guys wear black ones.

No, typically they are green apart from RTR. 5th Enniskillen Dragoon Guards had a funny green colour, I remember instructors at Lulworth wearing them. You would be surprised at the different colours used by units.
Kings Royal Hussars

and Royal Dragoon Guards

He has a Ferret that I would love. He sells a lot of Ferrets in the US.

That’s amazing that different units had uniforms so different from one another. In the US Army, everyone wears the same thing mostly lol

So, quick update…
I’m pretty much done with the body and everything that has to go on it now.
Wheels are painted already and off to one side so I intend to put the PE D10 reel together, prime that then add some cable to it.

I will then be getting down a base coat of NATO green, like the Scimitar I did a while back. I liked that colour and it was pretty much spot on to my eye. Then will look at some pics of my Bosnia ride to get the black in the right areas.

Wow! John, seeing it all together in the primer is truly impressive after following all that you went through to modify and kit-bash this ride of yours. It’s all come together beautifully. Your detail is excellent and the finishing is smooth and seamless. Of course, it’s your ride, you lived in it, so you’ve got all the details down! Don’t forget to add all the rags and ration boxes stuffed here and there that only your crew would know about - that’s what makes this type of build special. Really a fantastic job here John and I can’t wait to see her dressed in colors.

Thanks Matt, your encouragement is always welcome … And you need to get your Bradley under way :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: !!

So, I have at last got the green base coat on. :+1:

It’s Tamiya NATO green, mixed about 60/40 with Tamiya thinner. To my eye it’s the correct tone for UK NATO green.

Next will be looking at my wagon on the Bosnia trip to match the black cam and a few things like D10 reel etc, and working out a plan for the stowed cam net.

I see another long and joyfull journey closing it’s finish line!
Great job on your wagon, John and I think you need to keep them(your other wagons) coming!

Thanks Angel, I think this is easily the kit I have enjoyed building most. And if I’m honest, I was putting off getting the green down as I knew that meant the finish line was very close… But, I have a Chieftain Mk10 Stillbrew to do next. That was from when I was B Sqn, The Blues and Royals C/S 31… That will be a nice build and will do another build blog for that :+1:
