If it is not too late to join, I’d like add this little D-30 from Trumpeter with RB Model barrel.

I love that desert scene with the palm tree, very atmospheric!

I have been working away on several projects including the 3DModels LeFH1BB2 self propelled gun. I sort of lost my MOJO with this kit but decided to press ahead to the finish.

A brief recap - The problems started when the kit arrived from China and the major parts were broken. The seller replaced them but weeks were added while this happened. There was a LOT of sticky uncured material on the back of the two track parts. A day in a sunny window fixed the sticky but a lot of time with a Dremel and a burr were needed to remove the excess material. When the rest of the parts were removed from the little containers, I found that the gun tube, recuperator & muzzle brake were not included and looking carefully at what passed for paperwork, they never were!!! I bought a tube from RB models that needed reworking and still didn’t have a muzzle brake. That part was sourced from the spare parts box and the recuperator made from plastic rod stock.

After some paint and decals it started to look more like a model

The muzzle brake from the spares box had an open from and that bothered me. This part is front & center and needed to be improved

I made a front part out of a bit of plastic engraver’s material

Here is is now looking a whole bunch happier

Ok… It’s almost bench time again for me … The cast is still on until Thursday but I have some better movement in the hand so I can grip a few things…

I put a coat of flat varnish on the lower hull to seal the dirt/earth pigments in, then put the wheels on.

The wheels have a Flory dirt wash on top of a OIF/OEF wash…

Will leave the idler wheels off until I put the tracks on and connect them fully.

Feels good to have done a small bit of modelling…
