Forum images being migrated... ongoing.... uploading normally now

The forum will be in “Read Only” Mode for a while during which I will be moving all our content images over to a secondary drive so we don’t run out of space on our primary. This may take an hour or if I run into problems it could be down a lot longer. Will keep everyone updated if needed on KitMaker’s Facebook page.

Thanks for your patience.

So…. 5.5 hrs later and basically I no farther along with this than when I started. I was originally going to migrate all our files to a secondary drive, but rather than run out of room on that one in 3-5 years I was trying to get the Amazon S3 hosting working on this software. And 5.5 hrs later I am not any nearer getting this convoluted mess figured out. I may just try to find someone to pay to fix this issue.

And of course there is the fact our control panels expired on two of our biggest sites (Armorama & AeroScale) and they too are proving to be a problem with renewal of the Plesk licenses. You see they want to charge like 100% more for the license if the server software is not up to date. And fully up-to-date software will break our sites and make them non-functional.

I was hoping to fix disaster one for moving on to disaster two. :frowning:

And if you don’t understand why upgrading space for file storage is a problem. Do you know what happens to a computer when it runs out of hard drive space???

comes to a very hard and very sudden stop?

All too well - the advent of photogrammetry in archaeology has caused me all sorts of storage issues! Good luck getting it all sorted.

So this would explain why I can’t upload photos to the forum at present.

Keep up the good work - it is appreciated.

Kept on coming up with a message about TCP - I was trying to understand why my photos needed antiseptic :winking_face_with_tongue::rofl::rofl:

Did not know this. I am just now back on the site after a long hiatus. My first few images uploaded just fine then I started getting the TCP message. Tried reducing the image size, format but nothing worked. I just happened across this notice otherwise I would still be banging my hear against my computer screen.

Best of luck Jim

Must have missed this post. Sorry for bugging you, Jim. Good luck getting it fixed!

Failed to open TCP connection to discourse-kitmaker.s3.kitmaker.net:443 (getaddrinfo: Name or service not known)

Still not over

I think we all can wait until the issues are fixed, don’t we?

We all need to chill here, perhaps for several days. This will not be an easy or quick fix!

It remains possible to upload an image to a third party website and post the link here.

It is also possible to link a photo previously posted to the Kitmaker Forums since that photo already resides on the server.

yes direct linking from your mobile phone is still unavailable at this time.
