No.. it’s still saving to the wrong drive atm.
OK. We’ll wait.
Yes it’s saving files, but to the wrong drive. The drive we will run out of space on. ![]()
Ahh!!
That’s called percussive maintenance that is …
Solder joints can be bad, either from being bad right off the production line or from aging.
Extreme cold:
My father, born 1918, did his conscript training in 1938 - 1938 (start late in the summer, end late spring so as not to disrupt farming …). Just about had time to go home and then got called up again September 1939.
Those winters were COLD in these parts, my father realised that the grease in the rifles (Mauser M/96) would get sluggish in the cold. The bolt would slide forward when released but not with any enthusiasm and most likely not fast enough to fire a cartridge. One cold night he was out on perimeter patrol with another soldier.
The other guy needed to take a dump and while he was sitting there my father casually swung the rifle over in that direction and said something like: It’s so friggin cold that I don’t think the rifle will fire, if the enemy comes we won’t be able to shoot. Just look a this bolt, moves like a snail … Then he pulled the trigger.
Slide, slide, slide, aaannnnnd …
nothing. Dad had loaded an empty cartridge.
The guy taking a dump screamed the whole time and from that point on he made sure to never be in front of my dad.
My dad could be an evil s.o.b sometimes …
I’ll bet that helped clear any blockages! ![]()
If slamming the computer “fixes” it, there’s a bad connection in there that really needs investigating…
Still not working, but go ahead and keep using as normal. I will just re-sync the files up again once this issue has been resolved. If nothing else we have gained a lot of drive space by doing all these app rebuilds, etc. 70GB free atm.
Jim
Jim I’m sure I speak for all of us to thank you so much for everything you’ve done/are doing, best wishes for a successful transfer to the right drive ![]()
Thanks Jim. You’re a better man than I am Gung Din.![]()

I have a friend, who when working in a tech support role, developed remote percussive maintenance, when he received certain requests he would phone the machine user, tell them where to slap the case and how far from the case their hand should be when starting the slap. It was surprisingly successful…

Friggin genius!

Percussive maintenance - ha ha! Love it. Works on printers too! They used to be the bane of my life…I’ve also noticed percussive maintenance works on British motorcycles too…! Like Kenny More in “The Longest Day” - when he hits the front of the Bren Gun Carrier - “I’ve always found that if it doesn’t work, the best thing is to give it a good bash!”
I know a fair few soldiers like that; just sayin’……..
Jim,
70GB - that’s roughly 35,000 photos? Hopefully keep us going for a while! Well done!
Depends on the size of the pics… The size of the pix on my DSLR are 12 mb each, while those taken with my phone are half that size…

Cheers,
M
