Gimme Some LUVin' Group Build

Nice to have you on board Ray.

Wow, a living room… Most wives prefer out of sight like your work shop.

Newlywed phase, she is still working out her powers. Like a boa, slowly squeezing its prey. :joy::disappointed:

About several weeks ago my wife had some of her community theater friends come over for a holiday party and she brought them all down to see my displays. She was a little worried what people might think of certain examples of WWII aviation I had out but fortunately the crowd seemed to understand context and a desire for historical accuracy when representing historical items.

So while my wife does prefer the madness stay downstairs it seems she isn’t overly embarrassed by it. But then, she has bought at least a quarter of my stash.

it’s like a superhero coming into their powers, start off like Miss Marvel just doing small things and end up like Homelander crushing the life out of you for fun

:slightly_smiling_face: I have an hobby room that is now shared with the wife but I do a lot of modeling in living room from the model box. Speaking of which.

I hope to start cutting plastic tonight.

I’d love to get your thoughts on that Kubel/Schwimm vehicle Ryan. Unique enough that I’m considering getting one (once I liquidate the kits that I’m not likely to build).

I liked the uniqueness as well. So far it appears to be decent kit on paper. The only knock out the gate is the rubber tires. FC makes a set and they do appear decent enough.

I have wondered about switching with the Tamiya Schwimmwagen either plastic or aftermarket wheels as they appear very similar to me.

Mostly easy to work with. The suspension is a little more complicated.

The idea of the using the Tamiya wheels was a no go as the hubs are very different.

3 out of 4 suspensions subassemblies completed and the fronts attached. This has been the least fun part of the build.

Looking good Ryan. Seems to be a very nicely manufactured kit of a very quirky subject. Loving this one.

Looks excellent Ryan. Independent suspension? Does DEF make wheels for it yet?

They didn’t make a set to my knowledge.

Might as well start before it ends.

And just like that, I’m almost done.

Pretty much straight out of the box. The only mod I did was the cap on the Jerry can, which came from my spares box.

The green disc on the spare tire is just reference for a plastic cover I will add to represent a wheel cover.

Since this mitt will become an M151A1 from the 716th Military Police Battalion; 18th MP Brigade, assigned to the Saigon AOR during the mid 1960s.

The Mutts used by the MPs had sore tire covers on them with the words “MILITARY POLICE” and the regimental unit crest in the center.

The MPs of the 716th were first to respond during the attack on the US Embassy in Saigon at the start of the Tet Offensive in 1968 fought to remove NVA suicide squads hunkered inside. Losing several MPs in the process.

Quick Look with Kay parts dry fitted. Looks really nice.

Nice work going on here guys.

Just a heads up, I may not be logging in that frequently for a little while. I have sold my home and settlement is Monday. I am looking for another home to buy, so will be ‘couch surfing’ with family until I do.

Good luck with the house hunting, mate. Where are you looking? Curious to know.

After giving the canvas top a once over, i figured, i will need to add some clear parts to cover those two rear windows. I have some clear poly that I can heat up and mold in some creases.

As for the M151A2 TOW Jeep…

Pretty much done. I also drilled out the M220 TOW launch tube and updated the jerry can. All I need now is to figure out the camo pattern for it. It will be a USMC vehicle, but trying to find the proper color shades for the stateside MERDC camo pattern.

I couldgor Grey Desert MERDC to replicate West Coast Marine units (Camp Pendleton). Or the Summer Verdant MERDC of the 1980s.
