Got Hitched Campaign

I got sucked into the black hole of 3D printing and have been starring at the same kit on my bench since August

Whoops! I just invested in a printer, wash and cure stations. No big plans but I’d like to print some bunks for fuel bladders on an M548 track, as a start.

Yes, it will suck you in. My model production rate has slowed as well since going down 3D printing rabbit holes.

Unfortunately, most of my 3d printing has nothing to do with the hobby I don’t think I can do a resin printer the complications of the toxic problems are not good for my wife so all my stuff is FDM and stuff for the family but I am going to be printing a bunch of wall mounts for paint storage for a build room redesign here shortly.

Thanks for the support. My main concern atm is checking that my latest build is included in this campaign.

Finally getting this Quad Tractor and 25pdr done right at the end of the campaign. The gun bits especially were giving me a lot of trouble. The barrel is moulded in halves lengthwise and I just couldn’t get it to stay together plus it was warped.

Also, I thought the kit quad tractor itself was completely inaccurate missing windows and such. It turns out the kit is just modelled after a MK I Quad tractor, not the more common MK II or MKIII with big windows. Anyway, at one point I was going to throw in the towel, but I ended up 3D printing a new barrel and some extra fiddly bits that are missing as well.

Now all is well and progressing nicely.

Here’s the model primed with the 3D bits in gray resin.

And everything fully primed.

I’m going to go with a Caunter scheme, so I will be adding the lighter Portland Stone color soon.

Hi everyone

Sorry about my absence over the past few weeks. I have had no internet whilst travelling. Tomorrow I catch my flights back home just in time for Christmas, so I’ll be a lot more present in future.

My net is not showing pics at the moment, so I’ll review what I have missed in the next week or so. How is everyone going with their builds? I hope to get stuck into mine when the Jet Lag keeps me awake!

Cheers Peter.

Hi Den. Love the final result - turned out sweet. Glad you got the picture problem sorted. Yes, it is considered part of the build.

Got home to find the guy I’d been paying to mow my lawn and upkeep the garden stopped doing so a while back. I’ve had to spend a bit of time wrangling knee length grass and weeds to avoid the wrath of the local council… but I have managed to do a bit to the AFV Club 8 Inch howitzer for my build. Mainly filling the sink marks. Unlikely I’ll meet the deadline though.

Thanks Peter, that’s great news. Glad you like my rig.

Sorry you had to get the machete/panga/ weed whacker out as soon as you got back Didn’t find the “helper” curled up somewhere in that long grass did you?

Ok, this one is done! Now I can try to finish my other 2 campaign models before the end of the year.

You’ve done a really nice job there; well done!

Fantastic job on the quad, limber and 25 pounder. Caunter is such an eye catching colour scheme. Thanks for joining in.

I am calling the Dragon Sd.Kfz 252 done for now. The kit itself is completed, but I am holding off weathering and finalizing the groundwork until I build the companion Stug and base so I can ensure they come out matching in appearance. I also have a crew to finish.

The kit itself wasn’t too bad; the upper hull needs care to make sure it sits properly or it will try to install extra air vents for the crew along the sides. Not an easy candidate for clamps. I would have preferred no rounds be pre-molded into the rack on the trailer as it made it a PITA to paint. The cotton string for the tow cable was the typical fail IMO. Paints were AK Real and Vallejo MC for the interior.

Best part of the build was getting the hull closed and then finding the steering wheel on my desk. But I got it in and installed without splitting it open.

252 is great too Pez. I have a soft spot for this combo.

Hope to see the full dio with stug too.

Checking in to report I have not even started painting my Luchs and cannot complete in time. Maybe some day…

Three more days Doug. Is there no way?

Sadly, no. While the model is completely built, I am extremely bad and slow at painting. Even at maximum effort, it would take a few weeks.

It’s a group BUILD, not a group PAINT. Could you finish on a technicality?
