I sense a Ukraine-theme here.

This storm has been named after a Dutch meteorologist, who got it as a present when he retired (the naming of a storm after him, that is): Gerrit Hiemstra.

Ron, I don’t mean to rain on your parade here but beware the Skif tracks for the T-64 - they don’t work. That is, they don’t really fit or glue particularly well.

You mean the rubber ones that come with the kit or the separate ones?

The separate ones; I’m afraid I found them unusable. The rubber ones are flawed in that there are only perforations on every other link, when they should be on every one. That said I’ve only tackled the A and the B kits; they might have improved things by the time they produced the BV.

Of course it might just be me and my fat fingers so see how you get on with the separate track links, and even the rubber ones might suit if you so choose.

Just for info, I ended up using the Trumpeter separate links on my B model (from some time ago):

What glue did you use?
I found I had similar issues with the Revell M60 link 'n length when using Contacta, but with Tamiya cement it worked… sort of.

Ron, if you’re asking about the Trumpeter separate links I think they might have just clicked together.

If you’re referring to the Skif individual links I think I didn’t progress due to the fit; I’m afraid my memory is a bit sparse as it was so long ago that I tried them.

I realise I’m not helping at all here! I suppose it depends what you want: the rubber ones once in position might work well enough. I utilised the Trumpeter tracks as I was prepared to turn the Skif kit into something as decent as I could (I also used a new commander’s MG and an etched set).

I feel sort of guilty now as I seem to have set so many hares running(!)

No kits this year but I did get a soldering iron station with mat and all the bits and bobs needed to cock up some soldering.

Many of my larger kits have some large PE parts. I decided I should try soldering to get better joins
