OK, I’m calling this one done, it’s not my best effort but i was using this as a test bed for masking clear parts and cutting the tape with a new blade once it is on the canopy seems to work well for me.

Very nice. It came out looking great. I know from experience how hard a hi-vis white/red scheme can be. Great job on it.

That is an outstanding build of a subpar kit. Congratulations are in order. :+1::+1:

@HeavyArty @Tank_1812

the painting was made harder due to my airbrush not working so i used sprau can paint for everything except the yellow tail section.

the decal black letter and warning signs simply weren’t the effort so i used a thin brush and approximateded their size and length.

i was experimenting with the masking technique for the canopy and using spray cans with their thicker paint resulted in no bleed through under the masking tape unlike i have experienced with thinned airbrush paint.

i figured i’d test stuff out on a cheap 1/72 rather than some of the expensive 1/48 kits i have in the stash.

Time to catch up with everyone’s builds. Lots of incredible work being done.

bwilt, thanks for the compliment. The pilots and rescued pilot are from the MPC kit. The rescue hoist operator is from the MPC Westland Lynx kit that had bonus figures.

Garry_Kato, neat job masking the Cayuse. I’ve got to try that masking solution.

hudson29, cool kit for your 2nd entry. The kit has excellent detail.

frank, good work on your project. I like the camo paint scheme.

B-17-peter, thanks for the compliment. Yes. That scheme appealed to me the most.

hudson29, the after market upgrades look fantastic.

Gary_Kato, nice job fixing the cockpit over-length issue.

frank, decal work looks terrific. The folded blades look awesome too.

Klaus-Adler, I love the paint scheme on the Arctic Cobra. The final model looks great.

Wrapping it up for now. Keep up the awesome work, Guys!!!
Bill

Final on my 2nd entry, the MPC(Airfix) Sea King helicopter. One side shows the ASW role and the other side shows the SAR role. I have a 3rd entry underway. Westland Army Lynx.

Final Notes:

  1. Green tint canopy done with a green Sharpie marker.
  2. I suplemented the kit decals with MODELDECALS sheet(all stencelings).

it’s good to see so many people approaching the finish line of this third helicopter campaign and I’m thinking of hosting a fourth one in mid 2024.

i might change the format and make it gunships/weapons platforms and call it “Guns, Guns, Guns”.

So, as Frank sings “the end is near”, I would like to apologize for the fact I cant compete with my Wessy. Running out of time. Just couldn’t find enough time this year, as shelf-queens not only got a fysical obstacle. And She (?) deserves more than just a hasty meeting.

TeeAge, don’t worry about it, real life always comes first, this is just a hobby after all.
