If only AFV Club would update their M88

Do you know how many A2´s have been build into A3´s?

I don’t have a number, but not many yet since they are still in the testing phase. Once accepted and fielded, it will be a lot.

Six.
Although none of them were at Ft. Cavazos, that trip was ultimately very successful for several other reasons. As for the M88A3, my TACOM contact was able to hook me up with the right folks.

Yes, I would think so…

Dang! There goes your modelling project…

Poland just got a delivery of M88s - I’m not sure about the version, would probably be A2s…

We could still use an A2. Nobody but me and one other guy (that I’m aware of) have wanted to tackle the Legend Kit.

I have the Legend set and I think I glued one plate to the plastic before reboxing it.

The only active handling of my Legends kit is inspection after purchase and noticing two duplicate rear left skirt parts and no rear right skirt part.

I contacted the seller and they said they contacted Legends regarding this mispackaging. Approx. 6 weeks later I get a parcel from Legends with the rear right skirt part that was missing. Great!
Been sitting in the stash since then

As posted up near the top of this thread, I built the Legend M88A2 conversion. Some of the parts seemed to have shrunk and I had to add some styrene to them to get the right length. It wasn’t too bad though and turned out pretty nice, or so I think.

M88A2 Conversion

I have build it, it was not the badest kit from legend.

After waiting years for painting, it get binned, together with a M88 with the MR interior extras…

I think is a all new hull not a conversion

No, they were M88A1/A2 hulls stripped down and rebuilt into M88A3s. The basic hull was the same with the pneumatic suspension and raised engine parts bolted/welded onto it.

oh ok , did they go with smaller road wheels to make room for the 7th road wheel?

The road wheels were the same. And it was a hydropneumatic suspension.

Which parts were those? The new Cat V-12 was nearly a foot taller. The new engine required a newly designed engine bay and deck.

The raised engine deck is what I am talking about.

No, the roadwheels are the same, just closer together.

Correction on my post above:
It was the Legend kit number 1102 IDF Namer GP conversion set that had a duplicate skirt part. Not the M88A2 conversion set.

The rest of the story is still true
