Interesting shot of the studio model, I’ll have to search for some more myself. I do like learning about the model effects in these old movies.
I’ve often thought about doing it with the Hobbyboss 1/700 Typhoon. Along with the doors for the caterpillar drive, the October was supposed to be wider and longer than a standard Typhoon. I’d have to watch it again to confirm what was said in the film, but the book states it has six more missile tubes. So, you’d need two to chop up.
The real challenge is re-profiling the conning tower.
As the ‘Borg say’ - “Resistance is futile…”
Just back from the LHS
I wonder if it is the same car used in “The Secret War of Harry Frigg”?
Anybody have a photo recon Spitfire?
A side view from A Bridge Too Far.
This plane is really an “ACE” movie star, it has been in so many films:
We expect you to get the correct shade of pink for this.
Someone should do the Spanish Civil War era T-34/85:
Some more “A Bridge Too Far” inspiration:
The Land Rover based floating Sherman?
or the Land Rover Based Armoured car (sdkfz 222 maybe?)
and what I’ll probably build using the Bronco kit:
I think one of those Sherman’s was reused in Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits.
A brilliant film that has some wonderful model effects. Especially the Fortress of Ultimate Darkness which is one of the most intricately detailed filming miniatures I have ever seen on screen.
Great film
One of, certainly; others come to mind:
Minas Tirith.
Helm’s Deep (1:32nd scale, started as a proof-of-concept model?).
Hogwarts.
Valley Forge (25 ft long original in “Silent Running”, footage borrowed for the original BSG, CGI in the reboot?).
Everything but the moonbus in 2001?
Death Star large scale surfaces in “New Hope” and “Return of the Jedi”.

Theed City (Naboo) in “Phantom Menace”.
Despite the rise of CGI, huge complex physical models can still be best, albeit with CGI inserted or overlaid.

Absolutely love that movie.
I will do my best.
Minas Tirith was phenomenal! Somewhere on my box set is a short film talking about the building of that model. They even had washing hanging out on lines between some of the towers!
Now that would be a pain to build.
How about the star of The Beast"
The Blue Max
12 O clock High
Rat Patrol
The movie LeMans.
The cars from the Munsters.
The Beverly Hillbillies
And then there is.
Tank Girl is getting ready to start here in a little bit Kosprueone.
On TV there or are you building the model?
On TV.
