Hi Randy, great, I look forward to it. Are you coming to the structure campaign?
Is Fred okay? What’s with the piece of scrap foam picture?
A ha! So that’s what is under it.
Crazy ballasters! Go easy on the flow setting!
I like oddly shaped bases for dioramas. This one turned out a bit more…er, ah, ‘unique’…than intended. The surface is meant to be asymmetric but the inverse edge bevels are a testimony to my rushing to complete this before the end of the campaign (I had intended to get home a few hours sooner than I did but too many ‘honey-do’s’.), and I erred in measuring the width for the roadbed.
The track is slightly askew on the surface, as intended; 1/72 is wider than the HO cork roadbed I used so I had to space it. Used plugs on each end but covered the gap with tape.
The grass is Model Scene Grass-Flock held with NOCH Landscaping Glue. The ballast is asphalt I scooped up after a deluge deposited a pile of it on the road at the end of my in-law’s driveway. I sized it through a window screen. Because I only had about 15 minutes left before the end of the campaign, I did not mix up a glue/alcohol/water ballast mixture. I used wife’s hairspray. Doesn’t that roadbed look silky, luxurious and full-bodied??
Spectacular roadbed! Very resourceful with the resources as well
Thank you. Going to try and get it finished before too long. And yes, I will give your other campaign a shot. Hope to finish that one on time.
Thank you,
Randy
A big thanks to John, Tom and Phil for their kind words, they’re very much appreciated chaps,

That motorised flak s.SP. looks amazing Fred, I really like the weathering, an excellent little build,
.

Really like the ‘How To’ on ballasting track Fred, it helps those of us that are a tad inexperienced in all things railway, much appreciated,
.

G, thank you. You are too kind.
I don’t know if any of you remember several months ago when that was all but complete, but I posted that I had contacted you in a model about the missing photo at church, but I had not heard from them hidden likes six or so months. I must clear the record. Not long after that, I did receive the parts from them. I can’t remember if I’ve already posted the picture of them on the thread or not.
Were the Badges awarded?
Mike
Hi Mike,
I made one and stalled out. I’ll get them awarded this week. Sorry for the delay.
Thanks, Fred
Friends, (Railroad) Romans, Campaignmen, lend me your profiles. I have notified the award-granting powers that be and I hope you will each have your award soon.
Several of you completed the campaign, as well as a couple who did not formally sign-up but participated. In no particular order, I have requested the badge to be awarded to:
G-man69![]()

JPTRR

Honorable mention to:
kosprueone

Not an exhaustive list but thanks to those of you who added information and cheered us on, to name a few:
Johnnych01
MoramarthT
Buckeye
Tank_1812
Dioramartin
barkingdigger
golikell
metalhead85
Gang, thanks for the campaign. Hope to see you all at the new one: Railroad Structures!
One final thing, a salute to our late, great Pug!

It is a nice touch thanking people who didn’t do builds but did encourage and help the rest of us. I certainly appreciated that also!
Thank you for the honorable mention, @JPTRR!
It has been a pleasure watching the campaign develop and performing a consulting and cheering function in it!
Great summing up Fred, It’s great to see credit being given to those that participate in a supporting role, without their feedback it would be a much lonelier hobby,
.

Too true, G. A lot of great source material, tips, suggestions, and simply pats on the back. I really appreciate their support.
Group, the badge should be in your profile now. Thanks to Jim S. for fixing the mess I made with it. I am sorry for the delay in its issuance. Awarding? You know what I mean.
Thanks,
Fred
Group, I must correct the record, embarrassingly belated. Not long after I wrote,
A parcel from Uni Model arrived with the P/E. It arrived like 3 days after I wrote the above. It appeared to have been in the mail for a couple of months.
Regardless, Uni Model came through. If I get any free time, I plan to retrofit the P/E to the model.

That always happens to me Fred, the moment one bad-mouths somebody for nor doing something you find they had,
, but glad it eventually arrived though,
.
