Large Mörser Karl dio. “Ziu Vor” Completed

Yeah,I have found the hands to be very “hit or miss” with every manufacturer so far. Feet as well. Tamiya tends to offer clumpy, short feet. Looks like Trumpy has an issue there as well as well. The feet look long enough but the soles of the boots are like Frankenstein,

This is most certainly the case. However, I am not proficient enough in sculpting that I am able to correct these hand problems… :pensive:

Soles will be not so hard to adapt.

Hi Erwin,

I look forward to seeing how they paint up, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

For now, I have 3 assembled and primed.

Nicely done Erwin , have you looked into Hornet hands ?

Hornet is rather hard to get by overhere. I don’t know of any Dutch shop featuring them. With the mail rates these days buying them is rather unattractive.

Experimenting with chipping fluid to give these 2 waggons a worn down look. Wattaya think?
Succes or failure?
The top pic is the roof of a box car.

You sure nailed the truck Erwin it looks superb. I’ve never used Trumpy figures either, not so persuaded by your experience so far. Hmm, would the car roof look like that…? I guess it’ll never be seen so it matters not, although the floor will :tumbler_glass:

Hi Erwin,

How does the chipping fluid work? It’s difficult to tell from the pictures as the lighting seems to make some elements look smudged, but the inside walls look fine my friend, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Tend to agree with Tim about the underside of the roof, don’t imagine it would get too much wear and tear…but then I’m no expert on rolling stock, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

What’s on the floor, in the pictures it doesn’t look flat?

Cheers,,

Morning Gents ( for some of us  ),

Thanks for your feedback. The following pic inspired me to also take on the roof:

Yet, I must admit that using the fluid was really a first for me…
On horizontal areas, the fluid tends to form small puddles, making the effect quite similar to maskol: a rubber like layer which comes off in a peeling like result, wheras on vertical areas, more of a scuffing effect appears. This explains the difference in appearance…

As for the floor, that is simply a piece of paper to protect the wood colour painted area from overspray :stuck_out_tongue:
The Gondola nears completion, so watch these pages

What type of paint are you chipping? I’ve only tried chipping fluid with Vallejo, and those tend to ‘chip’ off in rubbery chunks. Apparently it’s a common thing with most acrylic paints, with lacquer based giving better chipping results. I bought a jar of Tamiya white and thinner to experiment with a white wash, as I heard it works great, never got around to testing it out though.

I did use Vallejo. I considdered using AK real colours (for the outside) but enquiries elsewhere gave me the information that lacquer based paint could not be used?

One more down, 3 to go! :+1:t2: The MiniArt gondola is done! As always, I left of the air hoses till I will couple the truck to the others. Actulally this waggon has no brakes, so no hoses are included. Yet in order to have it included in the train, provisions to pass through the air for the brakes of the other freight cars need to be present. I did no go so far as to add piping to the underside, as not of it will be visible anyway (wait, did Í say that??? :astonished:) . The cargo will be oildrums. 8 are included in the kit, together with the personell loading/unloading (who can tell the difference?) but that is not enough for me. So another set needs to be procured. That set contains 12 drums, which makes the tally on the doors accurate  So, for the pics:

Erwin,

Amazing work!!

Thank you @RollTide, I appreciate your feedback

Hi Erwin,

I accept your proof of the underside of the roof getting badly worn…I did say I was no rollingstock expert, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

By the way, yes you did say that about the hidden air hose…you’re getting as slap-dash as me, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

The gondola looks exceptional, a nice level of battered and bent, a real :+1: from me on that one, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

You indeed said you were no expert, therefore I like to enlighten you with my knowledge…

I was afraid I did… Generally I build every detail, even if not visible… I do not know what came over me…

I take a deep bow and accept you compliment with gratitude!!!

Hi Erwin,

Gee, thanks for enlightening me, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Your secret’s safe with me, I won’t tell anyone, :innocent:…TIIIIIM! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Compliments where they’re deserved my friend, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

Erwin, The gondola looks absolutely perfect!

Hi Erwin,

Are the ‘numbered’ chalk marks on the door a decal provided with the kit, or is it your idea and done by hand?

Cheers,,
