That is absolutely amazing
1/24-25 truck guys do something similar with backer rod. I just never thought to scale it down.
This really is an epic build!

Great colours on the LAVs and nice contrasts showing the different schemes, nice idea. The figures look just as nice, there is such an awful amount of work gone into all those but its paid off Bert as they are all looking great and with so many different poses showing loads of movement .
I dont envy you doing those tyres … but they look very realistic with how you have done the weighted look, and the base area is looking very big, it will be pretty impressive once all the wagons are mounted with crew etc … lovely work
Thank you very much!
I have been working on this again as well, as they have been driving along dusty mountain roads I dusted up the vehicles and tires.
Wasn’t to pleased with the rock faces so out came the toilet paper and PVA, and some treebark.
And started on a tree, dead plant from the garden and glued seafoam to the ends of the branches.
Still a lot of work to do, but on the move again…
Fantastic job on the LAV’s, figures and diorama.
Cheers,
Ralph
Thank you!
Nice progress Bert. I have done the same thing in the past with old tree roots and sea foam. It works really well. Yours looks great.
Thanks! I had never done this before, but came across this mthode on a couple of sites and some nice video’s on youtube. Making a tree this way almost turns a tree into a kit
It does give a nice realistic look, and you can also gently or lightly use white glue or poster spray glue and add various colours of green scatter to show leaf buds etc. The time it takes is really worth the effort.
Been adding some detailing to the groundwork, trees are nearly finished, and only now that i am adding the grass tufts I realise it is big… takes a lot of grass and stones and such…
Very good work and also convincing!
J
Thank you!
That stonework and how you have done the rocks and blended the colours looks superb. The grass work and trees are just giving it the right amount of colour and life … As JR said, very convincing
Thanks John, glad you like it.
LAVs, figures and groundwork are all great on this built. I like to follow this post. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Hi Engin, thanks for the compliments!
What an amazing landscape it is almost impossible to tell the difference from reality
