This is our hobby room. Modeling, computer stuff, music, my wifes hobbies/sewing and a treadmill (lol) Right after I set the bench up in the new house last year - it’s never been this clean since

Shelves in the hobby room for finished builds

Out in the garage for airbrushing/spray painting

We all have our limitations …
My workbench is full of other junk so I have to build in the model box placed on top of my keyboard.
Your workbench is a luxury compared to mine.

I really need to get around to cleaning up my real workbench …

I heard you saying that for a couple of years now…

Sad, isn’t it …
:unamused:
It has been cluttered beyond imagination for at least ten years

I have a build office but build in the box top in the living room most of the time.

How is build going, I have that kit and it’s on the to build list some day.

One problem with workplace size is that it grows as you age. And everyone (most likely) with large workshops will trade them for a flexible back, keen eyes, and so on… But such a trick does not work!

You can have a 30’x30’ custom built model studio, and a huge work bench, but every modeler ultimately works in a 12"x12" square in front of him. It doesn’t matter what surrounds that 12x12 square.

Also known as the first law of modeling.

That’s only the well organised ones,
us common sinners have to make do with a 6"x12" rectangle

Well said Yuri!

Daylight & mild glasses used to be enough.

Now it’s five daylight lamps plus Daylight, bifocals & Optivisor!

@LOSTVeteR1 Dimitriy, looks like a good set up!

My first dedicated spot, a TV dinner tray that looked like this one.

I started on one of those too!

I used what they used to call folding card tables set up in the kitchen, the biggest impediment to building was that you had to drag your whole set up out to do something,no quick sessions

For those with limited space I greatly value this little tool holder from U Star, it helps storing and having at hand many tools in a small area:

You won’t believe how many items are in mine…

Went a little nutty reorganizing paint in the last couple weeks….

This is how my modelbuilding started 8 years ago:

In the kitchen, on the surface I use for chopping when cooking, between 2 cooking sessions (SWMBO took the picture and used it as a proof the “old fart” has gone crazy)…

2 months later, I started organizing the mancave:

Nowadays…it’s not so clean and tidy and half the room is full of kits, supplies and tools. And it’s not the mancave anymore…
Because the other half of the room -where my younger daughter dwells- is full of make-up, clothes and other women-related stuff…

Cheers,
Angel

Seriously, you have Zvezda 3650? Great! This is probably the best detailed kit I’ve ever seen. You will truly enjoy the assembly. Im still working at this truck, make all wiring, hydraulic lines, etc.
