Lifting the Fog of War: Command and Control

That beast looks awesome in black John. Outstanding job

Small update, the radio sets went from this…

to this…

The M3 itself is coming along nicely as well…

Well, I have added the crew inside and 2 figures that will in the diorama be standing behind it on the ground, dust, antenna’s and flag… I call this one finished…

Thanks for the nice campaigne, and thanks for looking.

Thanks! It is either that or he is discribing the size of the fish he caught the week before…

Great build all the way through Bert. The movement the figures are giving in the back of the CV is great and totally realistic… Wonderful :+1::+1:

Thanks John, glad you like it, and I am really pleased with the way those two react to eachother to, and then the third guy trying to ignore the shouting behind him and trying to pass some message on the radio…

Maybe not lifting but spreading the fog of war :grinning:

Looks awesome, Bert! Is one of the guys sleeping on radio duty? Or does he just have his ear all the way to the receiver speaker?

Would love to see more pictures in daylight :slightly_smiling_face: Stunning work!

Thanks! He is not sleeping, they are meant to be arguing/disagreeing, maybe these pictures show it a bit better, pictures from during the building…

his head is really tilted to one side, seeing I allready had to raise the roof because he was sticking up to much…
And I will make some pictures in daylight when I set up the full diorama.

Now I see, Bert. Looks good - from the previous angle it looked like one guy almost had his face resting on the radio table.

Looking forward to some daylight pictures! :+1:t2: :slightly_smiling_face:

Preshaded front and back. This is the first time I ever preshaded a figure with black primer and overhead white spray.

I was lazy and I used Tamiya White for the Zenith light instead of an airbrush for a much finer mist. Oh, well, the Masterbox figures are cheap. Next time I might buy some Tamiya FINE White primer for hopefully a finer mist and spray. I’m not worried as the camouflage pattern will hide most of the white splatter.

For whatever preshading is worth, I gave preshading with spray cans a try.

So, puppy has gotten about twice her size since I last posted…today I actually got into my shop to see where the M577 stands. Well, I had ordered three antennas for the “rack side” of the roof. Then I got worried that I purchased the wrong ones. Some of you will remember the RT-524 radio (AN/VRC-46 [radio and mount]) of which we had three inside.

I did some online digging and found that (thankfully) I did purchase the correct ones. Whew. That’s What I spent my “shop time” on - worrying. Oh well. More time will follow before long - little girl’s getting better at chillin’ and not running around Richard Petty.

Has anyone heard anything from Don at @Canmedic ? I know he said he was going off grid for a while, but just wondered if all was ok and he was ok ??

I have not heard from him. Hope everything is fine.

Work on my Corps Main model continues; I’ve managed to get some groundwork down but obviously am still working on the many vehicles. The trees shown are there just to give you an idea and may not be in their final position; there will be many more although I’ve still to repaint them after categorising them, or at least an attempt to do so (last pic).

Belatedly I’ve worked out a better method in painting vehicles in this scale: first paint the chassis in its entirety in matt black. Next, add gloss black to all windows. Following that, add the green and black camouflage scheme. Finally, add details like headlights and bridge plates. Working in 1:300 is far more taxing than I thought!

There are still some vehicles to come and I’m aware that I must be careful not to overcrowd the scene; even in this scale, I’ve had to compress the dispersal distances. For a full rendition of a Corps HQ in the field, I would need around 4 x bases of this size (I use an A3 sized base), however, I hope to capture some of the essentials of a deployed HQ.

Brian your Corps Main is looking great. Much more involved than I thought, very interesting set up there. I don’t know how you work in that scale; I couldn’t even with an optivisor lol! What time frame would this be ?
