M1A2 SEP v3 Abrams - Pictures out there?

The first two tanks the ROC Army received were custom SEP v2 tanks for training; they finzlized a sale of 108 M1A2T tanks to replace their older CM-11 Brave Tiger and M60A3 TTS tanks.

It’ll be cool to see M1A2 Abrams wearing the ROC Army Sun roundel. They already standard NATO 3 COlor camouflage, so it’ll be easy to build a SEP v2 and add the roundel from any of the Takom kits they make for the CM-11 or M60A3 TTS.

Any idea what mods Taiwan made to the V.2 and the eventual M1A2T i cant seem to find any pics of it

An Abrams in this scheme the ROC uses would be pretty cool!

According to Global Defense Group; the M1A2T will be a SEP v2 with the turret featuring enhanced crew protection. Not much else is said beyond that.

@Karl187; that’s a CM-32 Clouded Leopard IFV. The camo will be interesting if it’s adopted for the M1A2T.

As per Wikipedia; there is a claim that the tanks will be SEP v3 tanks without the DU meshing on the turret; which contradicts what;s been said elsewhere, that the tanks are SEP v2 and not v3…

Special configuration variant of the M1A2 SEPv3 reportedly being offered for sale to Taiwan as of March 2019 and approved by US State Department as of July 2019.[203] Per DSCA statement, it is roughly equivalent to M1A2 SEPv3, except depleted uranium armor is replaced by FMS export armor. There is no mention of the Trophy APS system. The new-built tanks will be produced at Anniston Army Depot, Anniston, Alabama, and the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center, Lima, Ohio.

I would say yes, the cable guards & enclosures they run from seem to be an integral part of the system.

So you could build a SEP V.3 and put ROC markings on it?

You could, but until we see them officially, it’s all speculation. Myu uneducated guess is that the two SEP v2 tanks that Taiwan already have are being used for training tank crews until the new M1A2T tanks arrive in country. The tanks are definitely new production tanks and not refurbished tanks, like what Ukraine is getting.

Maybe it is just me but are there any markings on the tanks with the new camo pattern?

There are, but very hard to see

They are not really new production. There have been no new production Abrams since 1995. All tanks since then have been upgraded/rebuilt from earlier tanks. Granted, they are stripped down to bare metal and totally rebuilt, but they are not new production.

I keep forgetting that we (the US) have enough tanks in stock that negates the need to make new one from scratch. It’s all taking tanks already ion inventory and build the turrets to whichever spec is required.

I bet the Taiwan Abrams are just further back in the rebuild line and will take a while to push out of the Lima plant. Of late, we have sold/promised a lot of other countries Abrams. I’m sure the backlog is piling up.

There is a lot of work going on with paint for camoflauge beyond just visual. That is why you are seeing these unique colors.

If I am not mistaken, I saw on one of the Chinese model sites stating the Rye Fields was due to be released this month but I haven’t seen anything else to back it up.
