Made in the USSR

As Ron mentioned the T-80UK is just outside the window. The other two kits would work.

I agree with Michael and Phil; let’s focus on the USSR from 1940 to 1991; so, it gives us a large pool of choices to pick from.

I think technically you can go back to 1922 when Lenin combined the republics.

You could. But I am trying to set it up from the “Great Patriotic War” all the way to the dissolution of the USSR.

If we single out the period of the Second World War, 80 years from the end of which we continue to STILL ignore on this forum, in a separate topic - better for all participating countries (from any side), then the USSR of the Cold War period will remain (since March 5, 1946 the Fulton Winston Churchill’s speeches before December 26, 1991). Accordingly, the pre-war period will be included in the WWII, since almost everything that was done managed to fight at least a little.

I need to check the stash outside in the small chalet in the garden but as I remember I have Trumpeter’s T-72M, T-72A, Bronco’s Gaz-69A and Zvezda’s UAZ-3909 (which I want to build as the original UAZ-452 version). I do not know which to pick but t least they are OK for the campaign.

I guess I had in mind the whole history of the USSR, not just from WW2 forward. The Soviet built stuff in the Spanish Civil War would be interesting to see.

FWIW

To my way of thinking until ~1924 there’s still some glimmer of hope in the experiment of the Russian Revolution.

The system, government and nation, I think of as The USSR developed under Joseph Stalin who comes to power in 1924. When Stalin becomes absolute leader on January 21, 1924 at that point the course is set.

1924 seems like the ideal start date to me.

So can I get this straight, any Soviet built vehicle built and operated between 1924 and 1991, can be operated by another nation and in modified form but must be depicted before 1991?

Is that correct?

If so I have a couple of candidates, KV-85, IS-2, PT-76B (Vietnam), T-34/85M (Vietnam), T-55 NVA or Tiran 4, also have a T-44 somewhere if I can find it.
Also a couple of others due soon via the postie as Christmas presents to myself.

It would be strange if I didn’t take part. If the star-shaped medal is accepted, then I hope to beat dear Leonid Ilyich!

Да начнутся игры!

He beats you anyway, since you only get one per campaign.
He got one for every speech he did.

And maybe also one for every speech he did not

“Every Breath You Take”

In Hungary there was a joke at the end of his time, Brezsnyev had many mikes in front of him but only one of them was taking his speech, the others were pumping fresh oxygen to keep him alive during the speech…

Which KV-85 kit are you about? I am near to finish Bronco’s - and man, sometimes I felt being tortured. Many steps were just confusing or parts missing / incorrectly cited. Too many fiddling small details in the (puritan) interior which are lost if you opt to close the hatches. I have lost the mojo in the middle of the build and it was not easy to continue (wanted to tackle that beast).
I still need to add the tracks and finish with weathering.
But the final result (if built and painted nicely) will definitely look great.

I might participate in due time. I have MiniArts GAZ AAA in the stash and plan it together with a Soviet field kitchen in tow:

Will roll out a classic heavy KV with a big gun, in honor of Leonid Brezhnev…from what I’ve read he provided stability and improved the standard of living. That’s an admirable accomplishment.

Made in the Soviet Union between '24 and '91. May be operated by another nation. May be in modified form, but built before '91. May be in service after '91 but not built after '91.

I kind of like the last one in this set. Do others have opinions on it?
