Well I got the green on. It is Gravity’s Saudi Green. Not a great photo but some white up next.
Michael,
Nice going on the Saudi Green. Looks like all the edges are sharp and true. Looking forward to seeing the same pic and others with the White air brushed on.

Looking good Michael. Very smooth like Joel said and the bodywork is really looking the part. Your fettling work is paying dividends.
It going to look great with the white and the decals on.
BTW I came across another reference photo to help inspire you towards the finish line.
Phil.
The Williams FW07B is complete.
Here is the chassis with all the wiring and plumbing complete.
The car that Australian Alan Jones won the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix and made him F1 World Champion.
Very satisfied that it is complete but also glad it’s over.
cheers
Michael
Stunning job Michael , as we have come to expect.
Looks like your efforts in body panel fit paid off.
Love the rust effects on the vented rotors - they must be cast iron on the real thing.
What’s next ?
Cheers - Richard
Michael,
What a journey.
The Williams FW07B turned out perfectly. I’m sure that Sir Frank Williams would be more then proud of your efforts to produce such an exacting replica. Every struggle that you won, and you did win them all, made for me a truly enjoyable and enlightening build to follow from day 1 to completion.
And Richard in the 1980s formula 1 cars still used cast iron discs with aluminum calibers. That’s why they always rusted, and just about every time out, they had to reseat the pads as well as clean the oxidation and rust off the discs. They also warped quite easily from excess heat.

Absolutely cracking job Michael!
Congratulations on a superb build
… and I wanted to add but the modem crashed …
nice photography Michael - well done in that sphere as well !
Don’t want to bragg but this dinosaur figured out the modem problem and fixed it without any help from the younger generation…
@RDT1953 Thanks Richard!
What’s next? I don’t know, I will definitely take a break from MFH and build something simpler.
cheers
Michael
@Joel_W As always it has been great to have your support Joel. Your knowledge on F1 is certainly a boon and the investigation into the Cosworth/Ford question for the engine was very interesting. The challenge to finish this kit though has been hard and I need to do something much more straightforward to get me back on track.
cheers
Michael
@Russelle Glad you enjoyed it Russell, Australia’s last F1 champion, so it was cool to do.
cheers

@RDT1953 Richard - what did you do? Turn it off and then on ?
I use the photos to hide all the flaws so filtered light is much better than direct.
cheers
Michael
Exactly - and here I thought I was being so clever…
Michael, is has been an, absolute, pleasure following this, superb, build.
@Hwa-rang Jesper, thanks for those kind words, very much appreciated. I am glad you enjoyed the build. It was a challenge that had its ups and downs but the final result looks pretty good I think.
cheers
Michael
Michael,
That is gorgeous! Congratulations on a stunning result. It looks so clean and elegant… just like the real thing.
I hope you think the trials and tribulations of the build were worthwhile.
Phil.
HI Michael, as noted by many, this is a beautiful build. Really interesting story too - you certainly had your share of challenges pulling it all together. I haven’t tried a 1/12 build before, but this is certainly intriguing - I have an MFH 1/12 kit Mclaren MP4/5, and your work is certainly a catalyst for getting after it. That said, I’ve tried a couple of MFH 1/24 kits, and experienced the same frustration with getting body parts to align, despite efforts to keep the frame/chassis square and plumb - so, an ideal challenge!
Once again great build and resource for figuring out how to do it -
Cheers
Nick
Thanks Nick,
I remember our discussions from the previous site and your builds using MFH parts and bits. Would certainly like to see the McLaren make your desk sometime. I have one or more in the stash but I think I will leave it to next year before I attempt another.
cheers
Michael
Michael,
You certainly deserve a break from MFH kits after all the effort and time you’ve put into this MFH build. So what’s on your bench now?
joel
Splendid build Michael, the engine itself would make a very nice stand alone display, it’s a shame to have to put the body on and hide all the fantastic detail in this kit. Very nice work!
