The secret new bilateral trade deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia exports military equipment (various stages of maintenance and disrepair)
Ukraine pays by sending ā€œcargo 200ā€, in various states of recognisability, back to Russia.

The Med Man before I first went there in '87, must have been Med Man 6 two artillery guys were killed when the gun on an M109 blew up. After CES checking the wagon two stave sections were missing and the thought was they were still in the barrel next time it fired.

We pretty did exactly the same on ours on my visits. Sometimes you can just clean for the sake of it and then over clean to the point you cause stoppages. When I was my AASAA Inst course at Brecon, one of the SASC guys who was the L85A2 test and eval team said they had an A2 on a bench, and put 5000 rounds through it without stopping or cleaning. Never had one stoppage throughout.

And I believe that’s why with a slightly larger diameter Obturating band there was talk of making it work if they really wanted to. But again, why?

yeah but they don’t get those tanks straight away, the order is scheduled to be completed at the end of the year.

Only indirect related to the war, US Government sends EF-18G Growler to Spangdahlem AFB.

Together with the newly based F-35 and the standing F-16CG, Spangdahlem AFB is now a great place for plane spotters.

Who knows how long the war goes on?

I used L85’s from '91 onwards and had very few problems with them that wasn’t caused by those sh*tty Radway Green magazines. It was always failure to feed because the magazines were just too flimsy and the lips on them bent too easily. Once the steel mags were issued it pretty much solved everything.

when you switch to the smooth bore, there is a noticable reduction in chamber pressure. How much I can’t say. Another thing about the smooth bore is that it works well with Bee Hive rounds as the rifled barrel gets ate up with that round. In combat nobody really cares about barrel life.

Unless the Russians leave the war will go on for years.

when we did a barrel change, we cleaned the bore with diesel and gasoline mix. Then ran sand bags thru the barrel to dry it. That was the first time and the last time that barrel was ever cleaned.

Why dry it? We used to pour motor oil down the tube when we had VIP’s. It makes for a spectacular fireball and a great photo op for them.
