Lets keep this post focused on the vehicles and how to model them before it gets locked as well.
“The Pentagon official declined to say how the military made these assessments — presumably a mosaic of intelligence including statements from captured Russian soldiers and communications intercepts — or how widespread these setbacks may be across the sprawling battlefield. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational developments.”

so who else has chosen a subject to build or is thinking about?
thanks for the info on the academy kit, the meng kit looks good I’m just not a fan of interiors for tanks unless you are planning to open them up.
you simply cannot see inside them through small hatches very well to see all the details in ny opinion.
Some of the tanks in images from Ukraine show a lot of insides …
A lot more difficult to build though …
No need. The innards get all bent out of shape as well. Even more validation of Shep Paine’s “imagineering” method. If someone is studying the inside of model of a burnt out vehicle, and comparing them to actual photos, he might work for Tesla.
I just ordered a Zvezda T-90MS and a Trumpeter BMD-4M. All this gear kinda put me in the mood. I’m betting latest Zvezda stuff is going to disappear for awhile.
i was planning on a soviet Afghanistan build but i needed Russian figures from Masterclub. the only place i found them available for sale was in Russia, needless to say that idea has now bern shelved.
so whrn i get paid again i think i will go for that Academy T90.
Which Russian figures do you need? I might have them.
Maybe some of them think that thay are fighting the Great Patriotic War again …
I have a T-80BV in the stash that I’m now looking to build as Ukrainian. I’m also pondering changing a T-80U plans from Moscow 1993 coup to this war. Both are the old Dragon kits. Possibly even a tandem build of the two. I have some other projects to wrap up first.
I guess this could be the same tank :

@18bravo they are the guys sitting on top/riding on a btr-70. i did track some down on ebay which are in Hong Kong but they’re a bit pricey.

Excellent photo opportunities for model builders
Ah, okay. I just ordered these from Amazon:
I will probably not use all of them.
The cat is a nice touch though.
Here’s a new type to be seen (not a new model tank), T-72A w/Kontakt 1 ERA. That’s some old stock stuff…
And yet, some crews are removing ERA. Lessons learned perhaps?
Lessons learned??
Please enlighten a dummy about the pros and cons of ERA
Looks like there are lots of tank hunter teams on foot. ERA is most effective when the tank is buttoned up, since any exploding bricks may wound or kill exposed crew. But the best defense against tank hunting infantry who have shoulder fired AT weapons is being able to see and engage them before they fire, which is more easily done from an open hatch. Being buttoned up inside the tank reduces your ability to see the tank hunters. Situational awareness, head on a swivel scanning for threats.
That would be the lesson that I would surmise for removal of ERA tiles or bricks.
