The difference was the canvas was for camouflage to disguise the type of vehicle.

Yep. Make it look like a truck.
Two visible axles/wheels, the wheels in the middle darkened to be “invisible” when photographed from a reconnaissance aircraft.

Well, that is one hell of a modified vehicle! But I can’t get the link to work.
