wow so a modern version of the BMW R71
BMW look without BMW quality. Horizontally opposed cylinders each get the same amount of air cooling, yet left hand cylinder traditionally runs hotter on these machines.
Interesting wasnt the Zundapp also the same as the BMW R71 or was it different?
According to lore. The Soviets bought 5 of them through an intermediary; disassembled them and reverse-engineered them to make them.
You figure with the amount of R75 Zundaps they captured during the Eastern Front campaign, they wouldâve upgraded, but apparently this was not the case.
No, and yes, very much so.
Read all about it here:
https://www.wehrmachtsgespann.de/zuendappenglisch/ze1.htm
" After long test drives with the BMW and ZĂźndapp prototypes the Arms Checking Department was convinced that the ZĂźndapp KS 750 was far superior to the BMW R 75. BMW was asked to built the ZĂźndapp KS 750 under licence.
ZĂźndapp agreed happily as it appeared their competitor BMW was not able to build a bike to of the same standard. Understandably, BMW refused to construct the ZĂźndapp KS 750 under licence. However, the OKH asked BMW to take over the superior characteristics of the ZĂźndapp KS 750 such as rear wheel drive, hydraulic brake system and wheels."
It took some twisting of arms and maybe something similar to âan offer they canât refuseâ
And the bottom photo is a soon to be knocked out 2S5.
That would be a neat trick, since itâs a 2S5
Edited.
I read the article⌠Hilarious
I donât write them. I just post them. Like cope cages, the effectiveness is dubious. But we are modelers, and those are features that can be modeled. (well, some of us are)
No I know that you havenât written it, but that doesnât make it any less hilarious!
It defititely would be a nice trick, since most of those photos are propaganda pictures done in the same training areas over and over again. Nothing to do with the actual frontline.
