Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

And just to round it out, coming soon in 1/35 is the Bayraktar TB2. How cool is that

I understand that you have fun building kits from the actual war. To me this would not happen. I have several Russian jets, I will not build at the moment. yes we build stuff from WWII or Vietnam, but this things are history. The Ukranian war ist a terrible ongoing carnage and more important to me is helping the people coming to our country seeking for help. I love building model kits, but all when the time is right…

Not armor, but maybe an idea for using the new Masterbox announcements.

Reminds a little bit of the Great War.

Hi Phil

I get your point and it’s perfectly valid but I just want you to know I’ve quitted building kits a long time ago, maybe because it was not fun to me any more…

You could build models, any kind with UA people, adults and kids. I am sure they would enjoy the escape from the current events and a moment of peace. Just a thought.

@Frenchy, could the first tank be Ukrainian? i don’t see any russian markings on it?

and what about the last picture of the BTR, what version of that is it, i don’t recognise it?

Here’s the caption I’ve found for the first picture

A reportedly abandoned Russian T-72B tank near Kharkiv”. In the comments, one notes that “Tanks often just have 4 in hexagon as a mark no Z, V, O…

I guess the BTR in the last picture is a BTR-80, with the turret traversed to 3 o’clock, showing the smoke grenade launchers mounted at the rear of the turret. The vertical pipe is part of the fording kit.

Many tanks that had Russian markings
are now carrying Ukrainian markings,

The first picture looks like a late 72 with the wheels, and the BTR is an original BTR 70, swim tube up.

I thought the horizontal exhaust was a BTR-80 feature…

I keep going back to this image. Is this Russian soldier wearing sneakers? White rubber soles sure aren’t combat boots. No wonder they have so many frostbite casualties and just more proof of no supply lines.

Maybe he is medbay warrior/light duty chit awardee. Best use they had was for him to paint formation symbols. Just a thought.

Another dio idea, the marking means “Dont park tank in Holes”:
LOL

Wonder if it was the old IED in a drainage line or maybe just a near miss and slow brakes?
Maybe night movement no NoDs tho too?

Its a 80 as it has the fire ports that are recessed.
A 70 does not have that.

You are right

BTR-70

BTR-80 : the side access hatch is different as well…

Is he wearing sneakers because his boots are uncomfortable POS that got waterlogged… or was he not even issued boots? My guess is the first one.
