Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

Looks like a rear hit with a SABOT round-

I guess this one should be a fake…If not this would mean they’re seriously running out of modern armor…

I am sure NATO will pay/barter well for it. Wonder how many NLAWs and Javelins UA could they get for that?

Seems to be a very valuable asset:

I guess quite a few commanders shouted: сука!
when they heard about this loss

There’s a kit of it in 1/72. I’m sorely tempted to buy that kit and then upscale it using a Pantsir chassis and short cab from the ICM Kamaz.

As many as they want…

I’m working on a Trumpy T-72B3 Obr 2016 and will use Microdesign photo etch for the bar armor.

Well you are obviously quite correct that sneakers would not offer much winter weather protection but there are historical pictures going back to Afghanistan showing Russian/Soviet troops wearing sneakers. The elite troops, as far as I’ve read, started the practice as their issue boots were of poor quality- and did not handle the mountainous terrain well- they found sneakers a better fit for the conditions. That’s probably not the case in Ukraine although perhaps the boot quality is not much better these days or perhaps General Mud nicked them!

Indeed.

Hi all,
Thanks to Ezra Talavera (Panzer_modeler) for his design, I got to 3D print out some Russian cope cage and NLAWs in 1/35:

There’s some printing error in the middle section that I need to clean up however. I’ll post some photos after some clean up and may put it on a T-72 kit to see how it looks.

Regards,
James

I guess it was a narrow scope of choices for them. I don’t know anyone who intentionally hikes or climbs in sneakers.

And now you do. :athletic_shoe: :man_climbing:

It looks great but does not appear to represent the type seen in the Ukraine conflict so you might want to stick to your original plan. I’ve started a separate topic on the Pantsir in the current conflict, and from what I can see, the Meng kit is the one that best represents the features seen in the photos I’ve managed to gather.
