Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

This video contains some numbers that could be of interest regarding what we are
seeing in terms of wrecked/lost/abandoned/mislaid equipment.
The topic of the video is the “myth” that Russia only sent the second rate units and are
holding back the “good stuff”

I’m pretty sure the last time I bought them was direct from a site linked to Live Resin in Russia. I think Yaroslav owns both of the companies or at least distribution rights for TANK. The website is Models-Hobby but I don’t think they are able to sell right now.

This could very well be wrong but I read somewhere that the sneakers used in Afghanistan were locally bought as they were cheap- I’m guessing they were knock-offs or fakes. So if they appear to be branded in Afghanistan photos they were maybe bought there. Supposedly the markets there were an attractive place to get ‘Western’ stuff like branded jeans and sportswear as well as electronics like tape players and that sort of thing. It seems to have been one of the things a soldier going out there might well save his meagre pay for.

Sneakers were mass produced in the soviet union and every school child had them for sport at school. They were actualy cheaper to make then proper leather boots.

I never knew that. I kind of wondered if Soviet troops were issued sneakers for PT- and would perhaps use those on the mountains. I guess they could get their family to send them from back home too. You don’t happen to know if the sneakers had logos or branding or if they were just generic?

Not sure about the colour of the soviet ones, the east german were blue with white sole and white stripes

@Frenchy- thanks for that article- it answers a lot of my questions- a fantastic find!

@Naseby- in the article that Frenchy posted you can see a lot of the Soviet ones were blue as well.

In the photos I posted above you can see several of the Adidas that were made in the Soviet Union.
