Mountain Problems

Very impressive. I love your idea of A4 limitation. Might borrow that if you don’t mind… - and even if you do… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Wow! Your sculpting is looking very effective. Under paint and washes it will look super realistic!

I love mountain buildings and so do I with yours too. Very realistic, and as SSGToms said, when painted and washed, it’ll look superb!!

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the positive feedback, much appreciated, :slightly_smiling_face:.

As for ‘my’ idea of A4 as a limitation I’m afraid I can’t take the credit as it came from a conversation with a regular contributor…BootsDMS…who uses the method to make storage and transport easier when he takes his dioramas to various shows.

I’m limited for space, so adopted his idea, I find it also focuses my mind as to how to fit things in, so give it a try, look forward to seeing your results if you post your builds in here, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for your kind words, fingers crossed regarding painting as I have a tendency to get carried away with vivid, but unrealistic, colours,, maybe I need to try subtlety on this one,.

Hi all,

I had always intended to represent the Staghound having just emerged from a tunnel, but when I researched tunnel mouth dimension I realised there wasn’t enough height if the partial tunnel was to look anywhere near the proper dimension, :disappointed:.

Therefore I needed to increase the height of the cliffs, so I managed to get a couple of hours breaking up bits of foam and covering them with DAS (see images below).

Hopefully tomorrow I’ll give it a thin coat of cement powder mixed with diluted white glue before giving it an undercoat so it takes on the coarser appearance of the rest of the cliff.

Then I’ll work out how I’m going to do the stonework on the semi-arch of the tunnel mouth, .

Looks like a sunrise

Hi Erwin,

That’s going to be one hot day with a sunrise like that, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Hi G man… I thought it seemed familiar. I remember Brian telling me about it at a on Track show… It fits in the lid of paper box and the box is sufficiently strong a d gives suffient height for aerials etc. Brilliant in its simplicity.

Now it looks really impressive with the tunnel and the bit of extra height. I also like the little hole where i presume the water will be cascading from ?? Really cool. Even without seeing the finished item, you know it would look good even without a vehicle on show !!

Looking great!

I say this as sunrises in the mountains leave sharp edges of colour/shadows. And this looks just like that…

That’s shaping up real good…111 Rock on !

How did I miss this one ?? Just started or what ?
Anyway, another seriously cool staging of the groundwork and over all concept. I have my eye on a small recce vehicle to build but the smallest one I think the Dingo?
Arches are not hard to make but I work in plaster so…

Hi Paul,

As you say ‘brilliant in it’s simplicity’, and whilst I don’t go to shows, I adopted Brian’s idea as it allows me to have a few builds without ‘she who must be ignored’ moaning about the clutter in the man cave, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Hi John,

Thank you for the feedback, it’s much appreciated, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Yes, the ‘hole’ formed by the collapsed stone is where the water will come from, I hoped it might suggest that the water continues on behind the cliff and look better than it just flowing from the top of the backdrop,.

Hi Jerry,

Your courtyard is truly amazing, a real work of art, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Rather than the ‘Dingo’. I reckon it would look great with the Bronco British Humber Scout Car Mk.I, it’s as small as the ‘Dingo’ but better looking, imho, and I think it was used by the Canadians.
