Mountain Problems

Hi Armorsmith,

Thank you very much for your kind words, much appreciated, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Hi Ryan,

Can’t recall if I ever built an Italeri kit in my younger days (probably Italaerei back then), but I think I’ll be sticking to Tamiya, much easier builds in general, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Having seen a number of your builds I’m certain your build will look better, and certainly more realistic as you have a much more subtle approach to weathering than I do, but thank you for the kind words, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

Hey G, glad to see you got this Stag mounted on the dio! Hate to hear you’re having tough times with the build, honestly your comments echo my thoughts about AFV Club’s ACAV I didn’t anticipate the struggles I’m having. Your vehicle looks good, I like the dented fenders and the tarp (?) draped over the rear fenders is just right. I gotta tell ya the rock face turned out great, I had my doubts for a minute but you really pulled it all together, the stones above the masonry tunnel arch are perfect! Can’t wait to see the finished presentation. You were planning to have a bridge structure were’nt you?

Hi Erwin,

Just goes to prove that the camera often lies, :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Though thank you for the kind words, :slightly_smiling_face:.

We are always our most relentless critics!
I think you have been impressive and dramatic progress here mate! Well done.

Hi Terry,

Thank you for the positive feedback, especially relating to the rockface, I still need to add some vegetation and ‘loose’ groundwork, and still have plenty of work to do on the water where it runs down and under the bridge…that’s not there (as you correctly spotted,). It’s partially built, i.e. roughed out, but won’t be added and blended in until the aforementioned water is finished as it will probably get in the way.

Sorry to hear about the ACAV, I have one of the AFV Club Centurions which I have mothballed for the moment as I was finding it such a fiddly build, again, most likely my fault, but definitely not one for the faint of heart,.

Thanks again, and cheers,,

Coming together well from here!

G, with the Staghound added it really lifts the whole scene and gives it a great new perspective. It’s just the right size not to dominate the background rock face and water feature. The bridge and tunnel will add to the realistic feel of it…
It’s looking tip top.

And being away from it possibly isn’t a bad thing… You can see it in a new eye and add or take bits as needed. Keep up the great work :+1::+1:

G,

You are not wrong on Tamiya kits being easier. You need your eyesight tested and have cognitive reasoning tested as well as your builds are much better then mine.

Hi G,

Sorry I have been a bit pre-occupied of late and just started posting my Road to Singapore dio again - so catching up.

I am amazed at what you have managed to squeeze into an A4 footprint. It’s all looking good.

I may have missed this, but have you decided on the season? In Italian mountains the rains can come at practically any time. Even after Rome was liberated on the 4th June 1944 there were a few days of rain… So it doesn’t have to be winter or spring.

Also, I have no doubt that the whole scene will pop out once you get some vegetation in place which also let the Staghound look less ‘naked’ against the backdrop.

Keep up the great work!

Tim

Hey Tim! Long time no see. Happy to have you on board again

Merry Christmas G , glad you’re back at this one . The paint work on all your vehicles always looks so friggin good !!

Like Glenn says those are juicy shades on the Stag, doubtless subject to weathering but looks so tasty. Sounds like a sensible decision for the auspufs, now for the turret :tumbler_glass:

Hi John,

Thank you for your kind words, they’re much appreciated, though I am spending far too much time away from the build…so my New Year’s resolution is to buck up and get back on the modelling horse as I have four incomplete dioramas on my bench that require finishing, :unamused:.

Cheers,,

Hi Tim,

Thank you for the kind feedback, it’s much appreciated, :slightly_smiling_face:.

As for season, I was thinking of maybe early/late winter, I want everything to look wet and muddy, maybe some melting snows to give some colour contrast.

Thanks again, and cheers,,
