Operation "Epsom" details

Love what you’re doing with this Jerry. The length of the smock will help make the figure look younger and smaller in stature. A word of warning on the trousers though. The “Pea” pattern M44 camouflaged suit was actually cut pretty close to economise on cloth. I’ve seen a photo of an NCO wearing the jacket over his service dress and the tightness has caused the seams under the arms to rip. However the trousers you show would be good for a pair made up in Italian Camo cloth, which was very prevalent in “HJ”. In fact they were often too big to be tucked into the gaiters and were worn loose.

Thanks man. The youthful look is indeed my goal.
I agree with the short and tight cut of the erbsenmuster jacket but I have plenty of pics showing the trousers with a very generous cut.

Very very clever idea with the over sized clothing for a child or youth soldier. Looks 100% realistic looking at WW2 photos. Great idea and executed to perfection :+1:

Apprehensive, out of his depth, scared … that facial expression is sublime. You could not do any more to make that an exceptional example of figure modelling.

Yes I have to agree the face really does the figure sculpting justice- the scared hesitancy in the pose is echoed by the expression. Its been really great to see this coming together from the initial conversion steps to the finished piece.

Simply amazing Jerry !

You have excelled yourself again Jerry! Your photographic skills match your painting and assembly skills. Looks real.

Thanks mate! I can’t take any credit for that face though. That is all due to the brilliance of Roger Saunders.

An amazing feat of model work. Painting is sublime, Jerry.
What a work of art this is. The apprehensive face pf a youth thrown into the grinder, of the true horror of an infantry soldier under fire…
