I started weathering this old junk Santa Fe reefer… broken parts…I think the floor is glued on backwards…some 30 plus year old Winsor & Newton oils, blended with blue Turpenoid, and then airbrush a Tamiya acrylic mix over top…
Just experimenting…biggest challenge was getting the caps off the old oil paint tubes
Nice! Very convincing.
Well done. Convincing indeed.
Looks real good to me.
Cheers,
C.
Started a couple more mini projects on some ancient Athearn cars…
I messed up the FRISCO so I patched over my problems…
Well Dave, the weathering is very convincing…EXCELLENT JOB!!!
Cheers,
Another old Athearn car …Tamiya NATO Black roof and ends…heavily thinned white, rather some white contaminated thinner on the sides…
W+N oils…white…raw umber…indian red…lamp black…thinned with Turpenoid…Tamiya grime mix overspray
Did some more work this AM with the indian red on the roof…all of these cars have an injection mold stub in the middle of the roof for better or worse
I like the realism on your freight rolling stock
Thanks all…
Here is today’s job…old Athearn kit…
maybe from the 60’s early 70’s …
Illinois Central Hi-Cube
This FRISCO car was suffering from the prior owner(s) having painted dull coat? over a layer of REAL dust…broken couplers…spent a couple hours on Sunday painting it…replaced the couplers this AM
Another boxcar yesterday…
Had a hard time weathering that deep green…
Faded with Tamiya white then deck tan…
Dullcoated with Krylon and when that didn’t seem flat enough then Tamiya Flat…
Maybe more work to do on the roof and roof walk…
Instead of weathering another old car, I started this Rapido gondola last night… some more today…scrap load from pile of leftover armour parts in varying scales…
