Noice!
IMHO, all Tamiya kits are great “shake and bake” kits…but for accuracy, they are not. Working my current build, there is massive correction/modification to be done to my M1 Super Sherman. In the end, it will turn out to be a great, and successful. build. I suspect there will be similar issues with other non-Tamiya Shermans, but I’m ready and expected to deal with such.
That’s true. We just have a very BIG support group.
“Hi; my name is Sable… And I’m a SHermanholic”…
(everybody) - Hi Sable.
I am not a Shermanolic!
I only built 4, have only about 6 in the stash and only want at least 2 more…
I think my resin turret is ready for primer/paint. But to be sure, feel free to check and see if I missed anything.
That’s what we all say. I have 4 completed Shermans with two in the stash and 1 on the way…
My completed ones are:
M4 Early Production (Tamiya)
M4A3(W)75 (Tamiya)
M4A3E8 “Fury” (DML)
IDFM51 (Tamiya)
In the Stash:
Sherman “Firefly” (RFM)
M4A3E8 European Theater (Tamiya)
On The Way:
USMC M4A2 Sherman “Caesar” (Asuka)
With all that detail it should really “pop” under paint! Great work so far…
TY…obviously detail not included with the kit.
Present work on my IDF hull front and glacis plate. Keep in mind that some of these mods are IDF specific.
My submission to the campaign. Tamiya’s 1/35 M4 with Eduard PE and Aber barrels for the 75mm and M2.
Don’t forget to add the sponson covers; here’s the template I used for my own M4 Early Prod. build. You’ll have to mod the template a little for this build, like i did.
How i did mine. Is a quick trim and everything will just drop in nicely.
And make sure the bogie wheels are detailed on both sides.
I used the early roadwheels for that. You will also have to plug up the idler wheel in the back (Part A3)
From our friend @barkingdigger on Shapeways.(BTW; I will need a couple of these for my Shermans )
M1 Super Sherman turret painted…and minus the vision blocks. Primed in black, then 2 very light coats of medium dark green applied at a greater distance away so the black still show shadows through in just the right places/cavities/crevices. Still weathering to do plus placement of the clear vision blocks already treated with green Alclad Lacquer.
Being a complete novice in armour modeling (only did a T-34), and seems I have accumulated quite some Shermans, I’m tempted to join, but it will take time.
Oh, BTW, I’m also a Braille scaler, so the Sherman I’ll do, if I do will be in 1/72 scale, shocking I know
Not an issue. The early roadwheels in the kit are detailed both sides and I am using idler’s off an Asuka kit so nice and detailed.
Got a start on the build. Some basic construction and got cast texture down on the turret and differential housing. Need to cover over with some sanding to even it out but a good start.
Also did a quick and dirty cover up of the sponsons.
Once the tracks and dust shields are on, any gaps left over wont be noticable.
Very sharp details and they stand out already.
My next build for this GB is gonna be a bit more demanding.
I have had various Dragon Sherman kits in stock (purchased at very low price, less than 10 euros each). Most of them are their very early releases, with lots of issues. I decided to work with those and try to detail them and improve whatever possible as a learning curve, studying the details missing.
First couple of kits are Korean War themes:
I got Eduard photoetch sets that include the fenders too
I do not know if I will build the flame thrower as is or turn it into a 76mm turret tank using another turret yet.
Work started with converting the lower hull for the HVSS suspension. Nuts and bolts and details will be added as I am looking into reference and photos.
I built that Easy Eight from Dragon, turned it into my Fury Sherman.
