True, it’s not that they took the 76 mm turret and thickened the armour (like they did do with the gun shield for it) but the M4A3E2’s turret is clearly designed along very much the same lines — rather than, say, basing it on the T25/T26 turret — which pretty much makes it a thicker version of the 76 mm turret.

I had to update my post i forgot the 2 Sherman Jumbos iv built one with a 75mm and the other with a 76mm and a Pakistani M4A1E6
So actual total is 40

Do you mean a T6 there, or Michael? The latter is a very, very early M4A1, not a T6.

Well, despite I consider myself a Sherman aficionado my build list is much shorter, you’ve been really serious in the business!
Scrolling your list I was attracted by the conversion from M4A3 105 to M4 105; for my Sherman Krupp (being posted here as my second effort for this group) I am doing something similiar because those very first IDF tanks were based on Chrysler M4 105 sourced in Italy in the period 47-48.
Some stayed as 105 mm, other were regunned with 75 mm and six orphans of proper American guns were tentatively armed with German 75 mm borrowed from Artillery units.This the beginnig of the hull job:


And I corrected the angle of the rear plate:

Any tip, suggestion or advise while it’s in progress?

Do you mean that the photo shows the angle after you corrected it, or is the tape the line along which you were going to cut the hull rear? Because the tape looks like it’s at a 90° to the lower edge of the side armour, which is incorrect for a large-hatch M4. Only PSC- and Baldwin-built M4s had a vertical rear plate, but those never made large-hatch hulls.

The tape was only put in approximate position to show the amount of hull to be cut away.
The final angle is some 12 degrees. I did cut it a couple of days ago and I haven’t made a pic yet.
Fully agree it should not be vertical.

it was a simple conversion i kept the M4A3 upper and lower hull i cut out the engine deck and used the engine deck and the lower rear hull plate and associated parts relating the the M4 and put those on the Tamiya M4A3 hull

Am I correct in thinking that the plate would actually be part of the suspension unit ? And you’d only 12 bolt holes in the hull ?

Just want to make sure before I start slicing bits off.

You are correct indeed. If you look at this picture I posted earlier:

… that plate moulded onto the kit hull is actually the flanges with the bolt holes on the bogie.

Thanks Jakko… I did look at your pic you posted, and just wanted to make sure there was not some sort of raised plate or spacer under that flange area …your image also nicely showed the 2 top mounting bolt holes as well which I noticed on Peter’s images above.
