Group Build Description: A 2026 campaign for all things Sherman. All scales, eras, users, as long as it’s based on the M4 Sherman.
Event Details: (Remember to click “Going” if you want to join the build!)
Completion Award: [add info about possible award badge here - see help threads for more info]
A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.
Started kits allowed? I’ve got a Tamiya M4A3E8 that I assembled up through the bogeys/running gear (unsure of the term—not an armor guy) but haven’t touched in at least a year.
I’ll be joining in with my RFM kit #5133 M4A3 76 (W) VVSS Late Upgrade Version.
I started it for Shermania 2025 but it got sidelined. So now I’ll continue construction and hopefully get it finished for this Campaign. Everything comes is one box - Kit, PE, 3D printed parts, metal barrel, indy tracks. Lots of parts! Not for the faint of heart! The only thing I replaced were the tracks. I’m a real Shermaholic and am loving this kit. Although the bogies were the hard part - 16 parts each and working VVSS springs. Now that those are done, it seems to be smooth sailing. (Famous last words!)
The bogies are a nightmare. This was a conundrum that took me several days to figure out. If you follow the instructions it’s just impossible, the parts fall apart in your hands.
First, I CA glued the springs into their “cups”. Then I put the front and rear half of the bogies together, trapping the cups, springs, and suspension arms in between them. Then I glued up the wheels and axles, and when the bogie units were dry, I spread the bottoms and snapped the axles into place. All the parts have to be pre-cleaned and all ready at once for this to work. It’s about the only way to get them all together.
