Fingers crossed for you.
Currently, this is where Iām at.
The underside grey has been airbrushed on Sunday and masked out, as has the exhaust collector ring after painting with metallics.
Was hoping to start the next coat, but weāve had some pretty bad rain. Until I can sort out a space in the spare room and get a quieter compressor, Iām stuck with airbrushing outside. Not too bad in the summer months, but when the weather starts turning it puts a block on things. Not sure Iāll make the deadline.
Know your pain 3 nights left and 5 coats of paint to go⦠Donāt think Iām gonna make itā¦
Positive waves coming your way.
Remember
My birthday is on Thursday, so realistically I only have tomorrow left to do anything. If the weatherās good.
If I donāt make it, Iāll still get it done. Not built any Italian aircraft and Iām too far along to abandon the project.
Short extension would be acceptable from my point-of-view.
Yeah, just finish it in good time. Life is too short to rush projects and get less than ideal results.
The rest of us can wait a few days for medals if it means you can have an extension. Thatās at least my view.
Thanks guys, Iām pushing ahead? Maybe crawling forward?
Monday night I got the primer on:
Tonight I got the Azure Blue on the undersides.
Itās starting to look a little RAF like.

Thanks guys, I wouldnāt say no to an extension.
Mark, the Baltimore is looking great. Canāt wait to see this one finished.
Mark, nice progress on the Baltimore.
Looking forward to see more.
How long do folks need? Would two weeks be enough?
Two weeks would work for me.
Thanks.
Iām happy for the guys to take as long as they need. Iām very interested in seeing the finished builds and Iād hate to see them spoiled by rushing.
I donāt think I need a full 2 weeks, but the extra time is appreciated.
OK, letās make it a round 1 month extension - complete by the end of October!
Sounds Like a good plan
Thanks, the masking is going to be a bit tiresome and Iām having to patch together the decals out of the spares box.
Well guys thanks for the extra time. Iām putting it to good use. I intended to post the other day and cover my painting plan. I did the bottom in Azure Blue, followed by the top coated in Middlestone. Then I was going to blow up the kit instructions painting plan and make masks for the Dark Earth.
Well, I was able to blow the plan up and print it out OK. Unfortunately there isnāt a tight relationship between the pattern in the side view and the pattern in the top view. Not to mention the starboard side is a complete mystery.
So I pieced and patched the patterns together and stuck them in place with blu tack and tape. Managed to get a good airbrush session last night and this is what Iāve got.
Now for the big reveal, wonder what went wrong?
You expect manufacturers to give you camo plans that match and are accurate - asking a bit much arenāt you Mark!
Accurate, intelligent and logical instructions, no missed or miss-labelled part numbers, great fit, ideal placement of knock out marks, no sink holes or blemishes, to scale drawings and clear placement of decals - āTthe Unicornā of the modellers world.
Well hope springs eternal. I know itās a Frog kit, Iām sure they lifted the drawings form an official source, figured theyād get it right. I needed some sort of guide, I didnāt want to try it freehand.
Well, the worst of it is that managed to break the rudder off in the unmasking.

The bad news was the Middlestone to Azure Blue demarcation when I had a lot of bleed through under the masking.
The kitās old enough that it came with a stand, used enough that the base of the stand has gone missing. I buildup some structure inside glued the doors in place, then filled and sanded and fill and sanded till it was smooth
I think itās all repairable, a little masking, new Azure Blue and on to the gloss coat!
