A brief update on the venerable Frog Spitfire Mk II: having squandered the weekend by watching the Battle of Britain, and drinking gin, I haven’t got much to show. Camouflage scheme just about completed; some detailed painting still required.
I ended up having to scratch a seat as even though the canopy is quite murky one still might identify an empty cockpit. I’ve also been working on the base which is an 8” square of 12mm MDF. I’ve been sanding the sides and applying my usual mahogany-type stain. A brass nameplate has been ordered. The figures will require a little work, not least in trying to bulk out the trousers. 1940s’ issue battledress did not fit like skin-tight Levis, which is what it seems Airfix would have you believe!
