2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Star Trek first airing on TV, September 8th 1966 (not counting the Pilot). To commemorate, I’d like to propose a Star Trek campaign build for next year.

.

Event Details:

  • Any Star Trek starship, shuttle, station etc from the various series and movies. Any model kit in any media (styrene, resin, 3D prints etc).
  • Detailing and improvements with aftermarket parts, scratched or 3D printed and decals permitted.
  • Any Star Trek figure. Again plastic kits, vinyl, resins or 3D.
  • Fully lit models. If you have the know how - make it so!
  • Kitbashes or scratch builds allowed, as long as they fit within the Star Trek design aesthetic.
  • Replica props. Eg, phasers, disruptors, bat’leths, communicators, tricorders etc.
  • Part started models (max 25%) are ok and encouraged if have builds still floating around the Utopia Planitia yards.

Completion Award: Medal will be awarded for all completed builds. Will make something up for that in the new year.

A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.

Definitely interested, and knowing me I will likely build several of the kits in my stash.

Question: I was going to build a few a few last year but only got as far as separating everything from the sprues and cleaning up the parts. Would those be permissible provided no actual assembly has begun?

Yes, definitely!

That reminds me, I didn’t state that in the post. Will go back and edit it.

Welcome aboard.

Excellent!

I’m undecided myself, but we have plenty of time to choose.

I might go with the Enterprise refit in 1/1000 scale.

It just so happens, I’m in the Final Stages of USS Enterprise G:

Looks good.

Have another project in the works for the campaign?

I have an old scratchbuild that I never completed. It’s made of mostly spare parts that I got from someone that I cobbled together to resemble some Star Trek outpost.

I am undecided on this campaign, but given a year, I might pick it up and start again.

I think i can find something in the stash

Go for it!

Kitbashes can be fun. And the shows model makers were not afraid to do that to when needed. The wreckage of Wolf-359 and DS9’s ‘Frankenfleet’ were mostly cobbled together from AMT Trek kits!

Brilliant!

Interesting to see what you choose.

I’m in with an OOB Polar Lights USS Enterprise NCC-1701. Unless of course I happen to find some irresistible after-market.

Nice!

The original?

Back when I played Star Fleet Battles regularly, I built and painted dozens of Star Trek ships including many custom designed vessels. I have a display case full of the better ones. One drawer of my work station still contains many dozens of Federation Starship parts. I also have dozens of decal sets for that sort of thing.

Back then, I wanted to build a bunch of starships in 1/1000 or 1/350 scale. Only one ship in 1/1000 scale was ever completed.

Two years back, I built a Federation cruiser for the Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica campaign. Never finished it.

It would be fun to scratch build something for this campaign but I should finish those old projects first.

Stephen, I kind of doubt it’s an original. It’s relatively new to me and I didn’t pay a lot for it (item #POL803M).

Sorry, I think I was a bit confusing there. I meant the Original Series Enterprise rather than an original kit release.

The Polar Lights Enterprise is a very good kit. Just have to be careful with the decals as they can be fragile.

And thick. Polar Lights big weakness seems to be the decals.

Worst ones I had were in the reissued Romulans Bird of Prey. The large bird decal shattered into hundreds of pieces the second it slid off the backing paper. Literally became an impossipuzzle!

Only option I had was to buy a replacement sheet from JTGraphics in the US. With the cost of those, P&P and then the ransom fee I got hit with once it arrived here, the sheet cost me twice what the kit had!

It does however look absolutely stunning, so worth it.

I’ve got replacement sheets for most of the others in my stash and a couple of custom sets for kitbashes.

Oddly, the BoP was the best results I got on one of their kits. All the others have fought laying down unless I go insane-o mode on solution.
