Star Wars Universe Alternative Camo Schemes Group Build

Well, the African Nations you came up with was pretty impressive… So no pressure lol :+1:

Wait…what? Why is that?

Could be something as simple as Jesper mainly uses a works PC for accessing the site ? I use my PC at work quite alot to access here when I’m on shift and as I am on an MOD network, I have no way to add programs.

I guess the boss and the IT guys are okay with you all browsing non-work related sites? That would get me in a bit of trouble.

And not to be picky but there is no word, ‘alot’.

First thoughts rough copy- Using the standard icon most model manufacturers use to denote ‘alternate’ parts in the medallion, plus the logo ‘that you may be familiar with’ in the ribbon area
Star Wars Alt Camo

Opinions and any other suggestions?

Peter, excellent job on the medal! Another great job on this medal!

Okay a bit more refined version:
Star Wars Alt Camo 2

The remnant of the Imperial design around the edge (re mostly AT-At and At-St being built) and the modelling standard for ‘Alternate’ bring the main emphasis of the build into focus in an easily recognised way.

However, my personal favourite is one that John’s AT-ST inspired me to do:

is this the actual size of the medal or will it appear smaller? the reason I ask is if it appears smaller a lot of the details will be lost when it is reduced and the writing may appear blurred.

David, this is the actual size that they must be 128 x 128 pixels, but what shows up later is smaller.

E.g, after going into my Badges section in my profile I had this ‘Template 2021’ badge awarded me:

Taking a screen dump of that, and a screen dump of this page, then putting the awards side by side you get this comparison -

So using my ‘Ultra scientific’ method of determining size, what will be in your badge list is 1/2 the size of what you see posted in the thread:

As to detail, on screen you see this amount of detail on something more than basic graphics:

and yes the yellow ‘Star Wars’ is hard to read as it is only an outline, but it matched the badge. The white version is much better.

I have been trying to keep within the overall theme of the template badges, using the yellow/orange/brown colours depicted in the medallion, but having a look again, there is no mention of a memory capacity cap so we could deviate to make badges stand out more. e.g.

Star Wars Alt Camo 3
which would look like:

In my humble opinion we should keep to the style of the standard medals. So I prefer the double arrows without the black outline.

I agree the “Star Wars” text should be in white to be easily readable.

Very good lol :+1:

To be honest, I was quite relieved when the medals became a thing of the past when we shifted forums. I could always very easily live without them, as for me, I enjoy the research build /painting etc… The medals didn’t even come into it. I get it that some people really liked them and that’s also cool as everyone likes different things so I’m not knocking it, just saying that’s all :blush:

That is what I thought intitially, but other medals in the template section actually don’t strictly follow that convention anyway Jesper. There are some that are very different:
Bronze, not yellow/orange/tan

With Red and White:

and with Red and a different Orange:

and the wreath in the latter it is barely discernible at 1/2 size:

I kind of like this one (after the chicken!) myself,
Star Wars Alt Camo 2

…but I guess we put up to vote what the guys want and then I’ll create what is decided upon.

I am getting started on my build for this campaign - the A-A5 speeder truck. I am not sure what camo to do, but probably pixels.

More to follow :slightly_smiling_face:

Very nice Jesper, and good to see something different…
I haven’t heard of these kits ? Are they snap together ? Who makes them, and what’s the scale ?

Fantasy flight games makes these for a tabletop game called Legion.

The scale is roughly 1/48. The details are quite good although they are made to be solid enough to move around the gaming table.

I can only recommend them. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey Guys I want to dive into this campaign. Got a Bandai AT-ST today and dived straight in. Not going to be a standard build by any means, already breaking down Bandai’s restrictions on limb movement.

Thinking of a repurposed Endor AT-ST or one from another Forested location either cammed up as a rebel or private owned (stolen) Vehicle with possibly some repair and or modifications.

What I’ve seen done by you guys already has inspired me to try something Not out the box.

Question is do I enlist somewhere (my first campaign on the new forum so am swimming blind. Probably missed the obvious.

Cheers Keith
